The unprecedented conclusion to the 2019 men's World Cup final has prompted an ICC rule change, putting an end to boundary countback as a way of deciding knockout games.

After board meetings in Dubai, the ICC resolved that in semi-finals and finals in future world tournaments, if the teams score the same number of runs in their Super Overs, the Super Over will be repeated until one team wins.

Had the new rules been in place for the 2019 final, England and New Zealand would have played another Super Over, rather than the game being decided on the technicality of England having scored more boundaries over the course of the final.

the one I have a problem with is that you throw to the wicket and it hits my bat and goes to the boundary and I concede a further 4 runs.!!!

Knee jerk reaction to a rule that seemed wrong from the outset, atleast the correct desicion has been made.... Although chances of it happening again are extremely slim...

A rule I would like to see made is for test matches... Imo, they should do away with the coin toss and the visiting team should have the option of what they would like to do first... This will see the pitches become much more neutral and series will become alot closer than what is currently happening....

Nothing wrong with any of the three pitches so far yet the Proteas cant get a big score. Nothing to do with the Indian bowling as its not that special, just average batsman in the Protea team. I predicted 3-0 to India in an earlier thread and now I am going to predict 4-0 to England when they go to SA in December.

Watching the draft for the new company called the Hundred to be played July/Aug. Amazing how many very good SA kolpak players playing in the U.K. who should be in that piss poor Protea team.

130/8 there is no other side in World cricket that could perform as poorly as this lot. Hammered in all three tests time to make huge changes to the line up starting with the captain.

26/4 in the follow on du Plessis will come out with all sorts of excuses and tell us that the team learnt a lot from the 3 thrashings Hopefully what they have learnt is that they are not good enough to be playing international cricket

So the Proteas reached a new low in losing a test series by the biggest margin in 83 years (as reported I think)

Imo, several factors contributed, i.e. losing quality players in the last few years, the management of Cricket SA managing to introduce a coach who imo was neglecting the batting (and letting go of Neil McKenzie as a batting coach) etc, etc, etc)

But one has to take into account that they were up against it from the start (a settled Indian team playing on pitches they excel on and then winning all 3 tosses to boot) so I'm still hopeful of an improved performance (let's face it, I don't think they can get any worse) against the English on home soil. But Cricket SA should immediately do something about the coaching team, I see Mark Boucher being mentioned, and that should hopefully start a new era in SA cricket.

The other 'burning' question should be the captain - has he not lost his enthusiasm for the game (certainly seems like it) and should we consider someone else to lead ?

Our 4 day domestic competition( so called first class cricket) is so poor that the new players stepping into test cricket cannot make the adjustment due to flawed techniques etc. I really don't see the situation improving, unless we go the rugby route and allow our overseas/Kolpak players to play for the national side.
