The remuneration of Soccer players and managers is way out of proportion .....was having drinks with mates during the week and the Liverpool game was on in the background ....discussion got around to how,at least half a billion pounds worth of talent,can be one goal superior to Plymouth Argyle...........and that was before today's loss to Swansea.

Just because the Premier league has filled up with expensive foreign players it doesn't mean that English footballers have become crap overnight. They are down in the lower leagues playing some darned good football, as Liverpool found out when they played against Plymouth.

Is that not the problem though Chris? Its been open doors for "imports" and look where it has got them. Huge money in viewing rights, sponsorships etc, but still battling in International football. Imo, although their international team is kak, the chinese league has mega bucks, but quickly they set a rule of 3 foreign players on the park at a time, as they realised, with all the money they could buy 11 players but its not going to help chinese international team/squad. Imo, its regulations that should be set in the epl aswell.. you would quickly see youth development grow through the roof... with the money they would of spent buying 1 player nowdays, they could have probably brought up 20-30 players through their own academy, who could possibly represent their own country....

Yes it is a problem. Until Brexit EU employment laws apply. Only the South Americans and Africans are considered foreign these days so the Chinese method wouldn't fly.

The Premier league is a massive worldwide success and the English fans enjoy it as well. Nothing is about to change. Ironically the increased money will enable the lower and mid table sides to compete because they are receiving bigger cheques.

One good change would be to allow Premier league clubs to take an interest in lower league neighbours. Liverpool/Tranmere and City/Oldham or Arsenal/Brentford. This would be a handy way to develop local talent.

I was trying to point out that very irony that you mention .....the difference in skill levels does not match the difference in manager's perceived value!
