Mac, I hope that is what happened. The alternative is too horrible to contemplate.

Mac dont know what you saw from elevation room...but we were up on the verander on the top level of the private boxes right on the finishing post..we saw and heard everything..what still rings in my ears is a small 6 year old girl saying to her mother"mommy why they doing this to the horse its feeling sick and doesnt want to race"

I was told that the owner who was in the lift said that the horse was shot.

This is horrible horrible horrible . This should not be happening . Was a postmortem done on the horse Saturnas because obviously the horse was distressed and that is why it did not want to go down .We need people in racing that actually really care about these magnificent beasts that generate so much money and yet there is no representation for horses in racing . There can be many reasons why the said horse was not well , but surely the trainer should know his horses and any good horse person should have sensed the horse is not well. But this does not seem to be an isolated event not so long ago a horse had to be put down prior to the race at Turffontein as well , when horses break down during a race there is still an explanation but when horses lose it before the race there is definitely cause for concern.

I hope some form of action takes place,wonder had this been a superstar how quickly something would have happened.

Thanks and well done Hibs..Magic I know you also been round for many years my mate..watched one of my first winners with you at Greyville..Liz the Whizz..sister of Eldoriza Morgan and a few of us had. I promise you and I never talk kak (its just a waste of time) this was THE most horrific thing I have ever seen happen in front of my eyes..as I responded to Mac, I and all there clearly heard the "pop" lead tablet being put through this horses brain after probably the most fearful disturbing last moments of its life..inflicted upon it by man.

Anyone watching could clearly see this animal was being tormented in an ongoing manner..on and on and on..I now am clearly am considering my future in this ..after what I saw "cruel sport"
