I remember this incedent very well and the repocussions of the action almost buried PE racing. A typing error on the official racecard forgot to include Mares. Shrewdy Uncle Stanley Greef aware of this error and bullied the officials who at the time did not have the nomination forms at hand to dispute the action....don't know if the nomination forms were ever found but it left a bad taste for all but thre Greef's

In his column in Saturday morning's Form Focus Piere Strydom said that some of the jockeys had told the starter they were in the incorrect starting stalls.
However, it must be pointed out that it is not the starter whom they told, but the handlers who lead the horses into their respective stalls.
Strydom was commenting on criticism that the jockeys had not said anything and allowed the horses to go into the incorrect stalls in Race 4 at the Vaal last Thursday.
The National Horseracing Authority confirms that an inquiry will be held on Friday into the incident of all runners being loaded into the incorrect stalls at the start.
Following the running of the race the Stipendiary Board, as a result of this incident, declared the race null and void.
