Before. I don't think he can win the met. The more he gets beaten, the more his awesome record will get tarnished. It will be really sad if he comes trailing in. Retire the champ while he is at the top.

I would love to see him run one last time ! If I had a horse run 4th in the QP I don't care who it is its going for the Met. I take cognisance of Kabz sentiments though, good point.

Don't get me wrong, I vote Run Pocket Run !!

Let him run in the Met, put Striker on board.

Maybe BFH is becoming his own worst enemy. His stats for his last 30 rides, show that while, he has had, the most rides for the Bass stable, his win rate is the lowest - 12 out of 30 rides or 40% of rides, for 2 wins or 17%.

This compared to 4 wins from 8 rides, or 50% win rate for Govender, and 2 wins from 6 rides or 33% win rate for Snaith.

Stat in following order : Trainer/ No of rides / No of wins / % rides for trainer / % wins for trainer

Govender 8, 4, 27%, 50%
Snaith 6, 2, 20%, 33%
Bass 12, 2, 40%, 17%
Crawford 2, 0, 7%, 0%
Other 2, 0, 7%, 0%
Total 30, 8, 100%

With all due respect to Marcus/De Kock and Mother Russia, Marcus made the local jockeys look like a bunch of amateurs.

After BFH's ride on Pocket Power in the July, I have had my reservations about his agenda.

All in all, interesting stats. Make of it what you want to..

BFH and Pocket Power are a team - you cannot dispute what a great partnership they've had over the years. He is so passionate about that horse, and while everyone has an off day, I truely believe he gives of his best.

I think let the people whom are closest to him decide. If he does not run, he should at very least lead out the field and say his goodbyes to his hoards of fans. I believe that Mike Bass and his owners will do what is right for him and if he does run its because he is running to win not just to find a place.

However this pans out I believe it is an opportunity to immoratlise a legend by giving this great horse the credit he deserves through the mainstream media. Hundreds of mug punters, July and Met have had the words "Pocket Power" etched into their brains for the past 4/5 years. Let us hope that Gokbulut and from *&%$#& Turkey are forgotten about for a while and the legend that drew crowds to see him (I drove a 130km from Margate to see this horse for &*^%^ sakes) will be honoured by the Operators who control this sport.

GC this is your chance to take this game to the masses of South Africa. 100 000 people, on course, per year (50 000 Met an 50 000 July) have a good idea who Pocket Power is. Climb aboard and market the hell out of this. You should know that the distance between legendary horses is large. You may not not get another chance for the next 20 years!
