Scotia on the King George and "Christmas" Hurdle
14 years 5 months agoKauto "the" Star
Good morning all and hope you are all back in the swing and looking forward to the King George and the "Christmas" hurdle from Kempton on Saturday (what is the weather doing to us these days);
Maybe the predictions that the World will end in 2012 are on track so again be careful with these long term ante-post bets.
On the subject of ante-post its been a long wait to establish if Kauto will win his 5th King George and I have no doubt the "champs" (horse and jockey) will not let us down. Interesting to note that the stable companion The Nightingale has been punted from 100/1 to 9/1 and Long Run has drifted from 11/2 to 13/2 but if you have to take only 7/10 the "Star" don't blame me.
The xmas hurdle is only a 6 horse race but should be hard fought between Binocular 2/1, Starluck and Kyber Kim both around 3/1, lets stick with McCoy for a favs double on the day.
Reem leads home a 1-2 for MDK
Dubai is underway and as expected the MDK machine is well oiled and off to a good start but maybe Brown might steal some of the limelight with Bankable?
After the hype of the Queens Plate we are focused on the MET and plenty posts and comments on the subject................J&B Met Log
Some other links and keep them coming
1 Xerxes
2 Racehorse Training
3 Nicci Welch
I have not been to the big T for weeks but must make an effort to go on Saturday, Mrs S has a new camera and dying to take some racing snaps.
Plenty backlog on the racing front due to the weather and sure the nominations will be higher than ever, so all the best to the owners and trainers desperate for a run.
Whats next Mongolian racing?
On a frustrating note must say that the venues from Tellytrack are getting worse as we move away from established betting and form markets to Turkey/Italy etc not forgetting Ngong, a poor deal for the punters imo.
Life goes on without racing and due to our new Tellytrack bouquet have had a chance to look through the programmes taped on the PVR and must say that the Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow is top class and very funny, I am probably biased but the show from Edinburgh was the best? I have always enjoyed one liners (Tommy Cooper) and have extracted part of the show from Stewart Francis, enjoy!
Watch the clip
Have a great weekend and good punting!

Bob might just watch the hurdle race but look forward to Kauto going where Pocket Power just failed...............great racing (tu)
Kauto primed to make history in King George
KAUTO STAR'S tilt at a historic fifth successive victory in the William Hill King George VI Chase had to be put on hold for three weeks due to the big freeze but on Saturday the superstar chaser will finally get his chance to enter racing's record books.
The delay has set connections of all horses the challenge of bringing their runners to another peak, but those associated with Kauto Star believe he is still the same horse who galloped to four wins in the Kempton showpiece.
Persistent rain at the track throughout the week has left the ground as good to soft, soft in places and trainer Paul Nicholls reckons that will suit Kauto Star, who will be ridden by 15-time champion jockey Tony McCoy for the first time in the absence of the injured Ruby Walsh.
"I think that [the ground] is in his favour," Nicholls said on Friday. "It makes it more of a test of his stamina. I bet it will ride soft after all the rain we've had but it won't be heavy. It won't be a problem for Kauto.
"He did have an easy week after Boxing Day and looks to be fresh and well. Confident is a difficult word to say in racing but we are confident that in himself he is very well. He looks superb and everything he has done is right."
Kauto Star and his eight rivals will take centre stage on what looks like being a sensational day's racing at Kempton. A nine-race card gets under way at 11.50am and also features the rescheduled Williamhill.com Christmas Hurdle in which last season's Champion Hurdle first and second Binocular and Khyber Kim meet again.

Seems like it is pretty hard to win a race 5 years in a row then?
Still a great horse this Kuato Star. Not sure if he will go to Cheltenham?
