Agreed Tommy - Jacob is top drawer and the best singer by a long margin. He has a few things against him:

1. Less appeal to youth culture - I would guess the largest portion of the vote
2. He is from a minority race group
3. R&B is as relevant to pop culture as country music is to pop culture (hows that dude with the deep voice)

Casey is working a very particular "something different" angle so far and a supremely talented musician. It may pay off long term. Jacob is just a brilliant singer at this stage of the game. If I was looking at the two of them in terms of likeability and marketability - Casey wins (hopefully at 20/1)

I won't be taking the 9/2 about a 16 year old......too much pressure on these kids imo.

I don't think one South African would make the top 50 never mind the top 12/13. Even the brits would struggle to get more than a couple in the mix.
The betting suggest its very open and theres obviously a long way to go. The best singer doesn't always win anyway, last year the yank winner was useless and the the brit winner last year was a mile off the runner up in terms of ability. The talent in America is mind boggling...

The Girls don't stand a chance at the moment. Depends what type of music they have to sing over the next few weeks.

Tommy - Please ask your wife what she thought of Clint Gamboa in terms of singing ability. I reckon this guy was right up in th top 3 but the move he pulled on the 15 year old chunky kid, won him few friends with the American public. The judges probably realised that he had no chance going forward, no mater what he did and therefore did not bring him back as a wild card.

This in itself shows that there is more to the vote than we think. Likeability plays a huge part in this. Look at SA Idols last year. Loyd is a far superior singer to Elvis Blue but Elvis won the hearts of the people with his genuineness.

Watched a bit last night and looking at the betting still very open, Pia might have the full package to promote? Casey is very talented and can do almost anything.

Casey got voted off last night........then was asked to sing for his life. He had finished about 15 seconds of the song before the judges stopped him exclaiming....this is STUPID you are saved. You deserve to be here!!!
Add onto that Casey almost passing out because of shock, James Durbin freaking out because of Hulk Hogan making a cameo appearance (he is a HUGE wrestling fan) and Stevie Wonder singing Happy Birthday to you for Steven Tyler, you have one of the most drama filled shows ever on Idol..........

Americans don't vote with their heads but their genitals......it is what it is.

2) Jacob Lusk (I think he has the most magnificent voice, but will America vote for him all the way through?)
