Pirates on a no of occasions I have punted a horse to win 10k and it never ever shortens in the betting yet I see 10k and 25k claims all the time . My knowledge is that if a horse is 10/1 and I lay 1000/10000 that is supposed to be regarded as a claim . I am a value punter and do this all the time and my bookies can confirm it yet it never shortens !!! Is it not illegal trading ??? Who decides which 10k or 25k bet is a claim ????

bookies have the right to claim horses not punters,,,a bookie can lay you as much he wants s of a horse and doesnt bother claiming it as he might believe the horse is the wrong price and will go bigger or he might feel that he will lay other horses in the same race thereby reducing his liability on the horse he laid you...most of the claims that are done are bookies anticipating that the horses will be in demand so why not claim them for a paltry amount and then lay a considerably shorter price to the punters or even owners of the horse....remember the claim is divided up by about 4 or 5 sometimes 8 bookies so at race time the amount is minimal///make the claim of 250 000 and divide that up by 50 bookies and bookies wouldnt be claiming horses on speculation...the bookie industry needs a major overhaul in this regard

very good point pirates , increasing the claims to 250k and divide it by 50 bookies !

They will never ever implement this that we can be sure of !

Talking about claims and horses drifting etc, can some of our astute members please have a look at the re-run of Stellar Season on the 27 February. Also comment on why you think that a horse that opened at 22/10 should drift to all the way to 8/1 and start at the official price of 13/2.

Ruby Cartel opened at 15/10 to start fav at 9/10. For me, the movement of SS from 22/10 to 8/1 was excessive. Please watch the replay.

Gregbucks.......how many "overrated peices of a shit" win over a million rand in stakes money. I for one would love to own a few of them. If you go back and look at the re-runs of the race, they slowed the pace around the bend which resulted in Thandolwami sitting in third on the bit. If you have watched his previous races when he has done well, there has always been a decent pace in the race and he finished from off them. Thandolwami has nothing to prove...he has raced against the best and has proved himself to be a serious horse. He unfortunately does have his quirks and if you studied his form, you would realise that......everything needs to go in his favour. This does not make him an "overrated peice of shit" as you put it. As you quite correctly stated, you were talking from the pocket.....maybe we should look at changing your pseudenym from Gregbucks to Nobucks NoBrains

RobP,

Greg can have his opinion just like you can have yours, but hurling an insult at one of our most prominent members I don't believe is fair. You have only posted on here 14 times.....Gregbucks....5700 and counting.

Keeping quiet is also an answer I believe!
