If any of these horses were brilliant, do you really think they'd be up for sale IMO.

If they were brilliant they wouldn't be that price! These are bread n butter horses that will give you the odd win and have some fun, UD if you want brilliant try the nys n pay through your arse,
Leon is trying to sell horses and there is nothing wrong with that, maybe we should stop auctions in sa because the horses are not brilliant, I mean if they were brilliant the breeders wouldn't sell them.
UD I think you browsing SFRW to often that you sounding like some of them

I have no problem with Leon promoting any of his ideas or projects. I just wonder why he would want to come on here and face the abuse that is hurled his way.

As for these horses being no good, nobody knows that at this early stage. Any one of them could be just fine. I am sure that the reason they are being offered is that, some trainers, this one bought or had the horses bought on speculation so that he could fill up his barn with horses that he picked out because he liked them. And now he is looking for customers. This is quite normal all over the world. They are not being offered because they are substandard.

Guys any horse bought is like a "LUCKY PACKET",you dont know what to expect,we have all witnessed this, for example our superstar "JJ The Jet Plane",is considered a cheapy, look what has happened, its scooped plenty in stake earnings,so in my eyes its all in the gamble. How many 6 figure horses have been purchased and have not seen the racetrack. The only time anyone will know is when your purchase sets the track alight.Another scenario is that lots of horses only show something when they are older,so boys thats gambling, take your chances.

Pirates is correct. It is just as simple as punting on horses. Very easy. That's why so many, many people are so successful at it.

Barry I like your sense of humour-I went to the two year auction in 2004 not knowng anything of breeding or what a horse should look like got a buyers card and when it was time for the last lot there was only about 20 people left bidding started and I joined in myself and Geoff Woodruff cut the story short I got the horse for 45000 two days later was down with collic operated at Onderstepoort and pulled her through sent her to a farm and eventually to Barend Botes into training 3 months later won first time out by 5 but done her knee in the race operated and she was back in training eventually winning 6 out of 12 with 5 places her name Julias World sister of Dane Julia (who my trainer advised me to stop bidding on I was the under bidder for her?????)I bought Zaitoon(gr 1 winner the same way for 40000)bought Western Walk for 100000 won the Gold Bowl the same way in total I bought 32 horses on my own some without ever seeing them some as weanlings(Nicos Girl for 10000 won 6) and all 32 were winners so I suppose sometimes you are lucky:-)but obviously in todays market not advisable to buy the way I done it:)-D

thank the lord we have barry irwin in racing the lords gift to the racing industry// barry you strike me as a person who cannot handle other people being successful in other forms of the racing industry ..unfortunately your success in the industry has given you a massive swollen head and you think that only your opinions are worthy, what a pity the word humble and modest cannot be used to describe you ...plenty yiddish words to describe people of your ilk

Pirates wrote "its simple if you interested study the pedigree go have a look at the specimen watch them work if they are indeed in work and then make your own decision ... "

You are such a boob. How many people have the ability to a) study a pedigree, b) have a look at the specimen, c) watch them work and d) make a decision?

If you have a friend that you cared for, would this be your suggestion? I seriously doubt it.

Buying a racehorse is like walking through a minefield. It is fraught with peril.

Your flip answer totally minimizes the challenge and does a disservice to people lacking the tools and experience to get the job done properly.

I know you don't like me and I am o. k. with that.

But just because I have had some success and express my opinion does not necessarily mean that I have an oversized ego. Anybody that knows me understands this is ot the case.

If you want to continue to make stoopid and absurd statements, be ready to have me refute or comment on them, so that others might have a different point of view. And I might, from time to time, be forced to tease you, as I did in this case. If you don't want to look like a fool, don't act like one.
