Leading The Field beat nothing of note? ...
Son of the Burg my best for the day, and I wouldn't be surprised if the stable mate Surging Captain fights it out with him.
Gold Essence and Moonglazer my eachways on the card.

It is sure to be rather nippy at the Vaal today, no fancies but I am sure Delpech will be trying to increase his lead over Marcus.

@ Gregbucks, agree, Surging Captain's last run showed improvement. A winner & couple of places from that race, same pilot with 4kg claim?

An explanation of why my selections are often different from my top rated speed figure horse even though the latter may appear ‘rock solid’…as the case with Winter’s Song and his supremacy over Lucky Luca.
Firstly, the speed ratings posted are based on ‘recent’ performances and represent the figure I think the horse is likely to achieve today…obviously horses do not produce the same figure every run, ( although Silver Specialist has run 94-94-94 his last 3 runs). It can also be that I give ratings to contenders in a MR73 that are similar to those in a MR90…races 8 and 6 at VS last week apply.
Secondly, other selection criteria are applied. The draw at VS, trainer performance figures and a ‘horses for courses’ rating are the main ones I use.
Thirdly, and by far the most important aspect for me, I know I am going to play a quartet, double floating 2 ‘value selections’ with 4 others -144 permutations. If I ‘like’ the favourite I put it in the other 4, (I shall incl. it in my PA but not banker it).
I am crystal clear on the bet I shall play – no confusion and no regrets!!!
Now this approach is contrary to most ‘messages’ I have received from those horseplayers who are successful, and whom I admire and respect. However, the quartets suit MY psychological profile…for horse playing purposes this is defined as ‘risk loving’.
The Betting Research Establishment that I know consist of Economic and Psychology faculties.
I also play experimental bets, at present the TAB double and Pick 3, based on my own research where I think there is a ‘window of opportunity’…it is not going well.
Hope this brings clarity to my selections. Thank you for your enquiries and friendly criticism…bring it on, it can only help my horse playing develop. Please check out your intention first though.
Should you find this rather wacky, I leave you with some advice ‘in the same vain’.
To improve your mental alertness for horse playing…DON’T EAT, only drink water!

Value selections for Vaal Sand today...I do not seem to be able to find those longshots in this race card…or maybe I have tempered my selections based on others enquiries and friendly criticisms – either way here goes.
R3 Son o/t Burg…good figs and draw, form a bit bumpy and skinny at 2/1
R4 Delightful Diva …good figs and price 7/2, lousy draw is a concern
R5 Open, competitive…nothing at this stage
R6 Secret Life at 8/1
R7 Kings Destiny at 5/1
R8 Lochlorien at 7/1
R9 Muscle Man at 10/1…the price of the ‘unknown’ favourite makes a few attractive.
