Mission accomplished as Frankel's brother wins
BY PETER SCARGILL 1:34PM 21 APR 2012
FRANKEL'S little brother Noble Mission broke his maiden at the second attempt at Newbury on Saturday when he was pushed out to win the first division of the 1m three-year-old maiden.
Representing the same connections of trainer Sir Henry Cecil, jockey Tom Queally and owner Khalid Adbullah as superstar Frankel, Noble Mission was restricted to one run as a juvenile due to sore shins and immaturity in which he finished second.
Returning to the course with a hood to help keep him calm, Noble Mission was sent off the 3-1 favourite for the race and pulled in the early stages with the pace no more than modest.
But once asked to pick up the leaders with two furlongs to run, Noble Mission extended clear and, still showing signs of greeness, stretched out to a three and three-quarter length win.
Cecil expects Noble Mission to stay further than Frankel and the three-year-old was clipped to 25-1 (from 33) for the Investec Derby by William Hill, a race that his three-parts brother Bullet Train ran in.
Cecil said: "The main thing was to get him settled and relaxed. Hopefully he'll come on for the run and hopefully he's got a future.
"I think he'll be going up in trip but today on this ground a mile was fine for him. I think he''ll be better on better ground, but that was a good start. I'll just feelmy way with him."
