i think the Aussies will be much better on this wicket and will bat out the day. That bad batting display might cost us the match, but let's hope Taahir can lift us out of the popo

how could three players with well over 300 caps between them, Smith,Kallis and Boucher miss going for a review when Hughes was caught behind?

The same way they went for a review (at the insistence of Tahir, it seemed) for an LBW when there was an inside edge - nobody's perfect, but our record with reviews are pretty bad

169/0 in a single session in test cricket tells you either that the bowlers were crap or the batters were great. In this instance the fielding placemnet was pathetic and thats down to the captain.

Al least with us being 1-0 up, unless there is a repeat of Cape Town we are effectively out of this test, especially with lots of rain predicted for Sunday and showers on the other days. That should hopefully mean that we are batting for survival so none of the crazy shots played by our batsmen in the first innings.

Aus have lost 6 for 63, having been 174-0. Nothing wrong with our bowlers, and it's not the first time either that they've pulled us out of the deep stuff. Dale Steyn's heading for that fastest-250 wicket record ... not sure how many more wickets he needs but I think it's around 3 more.

the cricket has been exciting but Mike Haysman has spoilt it for me. The man cannot stop talking absolute utter kak. He just talks and talks for the sake of it.

Haysman is dull but many Governmental/departmental meetings have developed a useful talent for me - a mute button in my head.

I missed the Tahir double-wicket maiden ... sorry I did so ... but I'm really glad for him. He was drooping rather, now he's standing up straight again. Now he must just take the last two wickets and this'll be a day to remember all his life.

We came back well after lunch - all in all I think we are a lot better than the Aussies - should NEVER have been bowled out for under 300 yesterday - I say we are not going to make the same mistakes again in the 2nd knock.

the new spinner looks very capable but I think that he is going to get into a lot of trouble because of his stepping on the pitch. Its great to see a cricketer celebrating when taking a wicket like he does.
