Sea Passage

I may have missed it, but I didn't see any comments on this forum about Lerena's ride on Sea Passage at Turffontein on Saturday.
I thought he stopped riding when apparently having the race won.
When tackled close to home he picked up his horse again, like a demon.
On the head-on it seemed he even stuck out an elbow when the other jockey came alongside.

I checked the stipes report, but drew a blank there - there wasn't a mention.
I thought I might have seen spooks, so left it alone.

Then today a mailbag item for the Sporting Post arrived, raising the same concerns.

Comments anyone? Should the stipes have acted?

I did have a suspicion that he was taking it a bit easy, but I thought he was eventually beaten fair and square. I'd like to see the race again, though, before saying more.

u didnt see spooks he did stop riding wen he hit the front imo,but in jhb anything goes and the stipes never act even tho it was blatantly clear he stopped riding and only wen other horse was next to him, did he try to pick up his mount again.im not saying that he could hv beaten the winner, but hey give the punters a fair chance and ride ur mount to the line even if you think you hv the race won.

I thought nobody noticed that , he stopped riding and had the look and action of a mad banshi when the other horse got next to him.looked like he tried to shift the other horse out as well

I thought it was an 'overconfident ride' to say the least - but I don't think it made any difference to the result

I didn't want to mention it, but the way he started jumping up and down his saddle once the other horse passed him like he was about to cum! Lol

watching the head on he appears to drop his reign and was trying to gather it rather than "taking it easy"
