Craig, point 1 is 100% correct.
You are not talking about pacemakers or judging pace, but about DELIBERATE interference and it is so obvious nowadays. Again, Sectional timing will aid us a lot in this regard, as we would have facts.
I also think that some clanners might just be missing the point, overall. Once a jock does this, it is very difficult to pass him and then run to your proper pace for various reasons, eg horse on your outside, going through the turn or now having to use your horse at the wrong time. This practice IS INTERFERENCE and should be treated as such!
Your other two points also make sense to me, but some grey areas could result in a lot of debate, opinion and/or potential problems.

Louisg, it is interference and should be punished. I am so tired of hearing about inconsistency in objections that this way will make it so much clearer and force jockeys to keep straight or loose their position and get a suspension. The 3rd point is after chatting to quite a few guys that do school their horses properly we would far rather have that system.Force the lazy/trying to get an advantage Trainers to do their job properly!

Because they go so slow early surely there is enough petrol in the tank to make a move
before the straight.I understand your point about going through the turn and a lot of
your tracks are run on the bend. But i have seen so many races run in single file or 2
a breast before the straight.Thats why there are so many bunch finishes, look at Greyville
yesterday. If the better horses are not in the first 3 or 4 they struggle. If i had a good sprinter
with a turn of foot i would be tempted to run it up to a mile.If i had a horse bred for stamina i
would run it at a decent pace to take the sting out of the ones with less ability, why give
them the chance to out sprint you.

Craig, if I could have my way I would make your point 3 point AAA111111. We have only been training 3 years and I have lost count of how many of our horses are loaded in the first wave and have to stand minute or more waiting for the " bad" loaders and as you say they are generally from the same yards.
One of our babies actually cut and bruised her face while waiting for a very fractious horse next to her. The handler working with the bad one ended over in our stall and my filly was frightened by this.
If your horses are well prepared to go into the gates and stand you are punished by always being first in.

Craig, may I make a suggestion ? Okay will anyway ..... Mail that exact post to Sporting Post mail bag !! It will get more 'air time'. I am particularly keen on your 1st point as I have on many occassion (as a punter) seen my fancy get checked , cut into and drop out after being concertina'ed by some horse coming across and the jock easing off.

Craig, how much of Point 1 is due to SA's love affair with false rails? Are you personally for or against them?

Magic I am personally for them. I saw many false results especially at places like Chester when I was over there. Horses coming past the post and their heads had not been let go yet and just stuck in a pocket on the fence.Should never have lost and even with a small false rail would have got a run and won. Think they make racing a little fairer but that is just my opinion. I just wonder why go pushing to get to the front and then ease up to sprint for home. Is your horse not fit enough to go the full distance at a good pace or have you put it in a race that is too far for it?Cannot think of any other reason to race like that.

The chasing and then easing up tactic kerrien fellon adopted at kenilworth years back resulted in a huge pile up and ended the career of Conrad Wilkinson it is something that should not be allowed and a fine/suspension for dangerous riding would be justified
Give everything but up!

In Hong Kong a horse must be a length clear of the leading horse on the rail to cross in front of him and the jock is not allowed to ease the pace once in front otherwise faces fine/suspension. A combination of these rules and a false rail would result in the fairest racing. The authorities in Aus are not keen on false rails because they say they cause many races to be run at false pace.

Sometimes I wonder why bother with jockeys judging pace. Just let the horses run hell for leather to determine the fastest horse and not the cleverest jockey.
