Immagine how fast Usain Bolt would be with 4 legs.

I know about most mentioned above but had a soft spot for a small filly that ran away from everything they threw at her.
GLORIANA was fast, superfast! she won about 5/6 races with app. Ian Lightfoot up

Mikesack, B R was before my time but pretty sure Alistair agrees with me that Scarlet Lady was a better sprinter and would have beaten him over 1000-1200m. She was brilliant. Best horse I have ever worked with, here or UK.

Private Reserve was a cracking sprinter. Sadly she was retired quite early due to injury. Anyone recall Strikers ride on Tudor Rullah when he beat Overdog? It was the best ride you will ever see in a sprint race, unbelievable.

@ Kittycatoo -
Private Reserve retired with Respiratory problem/ heart condition.

And, yes - Tudor Rullah still remains the ultimate race in my collection, still on video (need to get these onto disc). I was doing Piere's rides at the time. We were confirmed on Overdog, but Piere got beat on an Azzie runner on the Sat, so come Tues, he was jocked off at Scratchings in favour of Dougie Whyte. Ma Heming saw this and basically insisted that Piere ride TR. I wasnt happy, as TR battled to go with the pace in a 1200m at Turff, so how outpaced would TR be in the fastest 1000m course in the world, namely Gosforth?

But, Striker was seriously p'd off about Azzie doing this at the last minute, to say the least, so I took the ride without him knowing, simply based on my "no ticket, no chance "attitude, together with my huge respect for Ma Heming as a Trainer.

It is not often (the only time ever? ) that Graeme Hawkins is flustered at the finish, when calling a race. He had basically called it all over, Underdog cruising to an easy win, at odds of 3 to 10. After all, Striker was 11 lengths off going through the 400 and still 8 lengths to go with 200m left to run.

He got up on the line, he was absolutely over the moon. And Ma Heming had that customary, knowing smile..... The race was later unofficially labelled, "the race of the decade"

Thanks for the memory, Kittycatoo!

Wasn't Golden Thatch imported as a stallion after his career was over?
One of his progeny was Goldmark....I know Striker said he was the best he had ridden at the time!

Yes Rob... he did his stallion duties and I always anticipated some magical sprinter arising from his legacy... I am no expert... but none really shone as brightly as I was hoping:-) he will always be my nr one sprinter

Hi Whitehouse, I worked with Abbey Boy when I 1st started in racing and IMHO Scarlet lady was definitely better. He was a lovely horse and fast, but not as good.
