What a muppet that oke is!!! I'm not sure he knows exactly how close to abject disaster he came!!!
He would not have been allowed back into Australia, no doubt!
She is such a wonderful mare!

If he had got her beaten I dont think he would have been allowed back in Aus, but I stick by what I saw and that was that she did not have much left in the tank and that was not the BC I have watched in Aus.

Luke Nolan post race interview:-
"I just thought I could coast," he said. "Because it was gruelling, she stopped. She's a relaxed mare and that was an error that every apprentice is taught not to do and I got away with it. I just let her idle at the finish and maybe the big engine just shut itself down. I duly shit myself. It's quite unfortunate because it's going to overshadow what was a very good win. They're going to talk more about my brain fade than the horse's fantastic effort."
Asked if he would eventually be able to look back on the victory with relish, he replied: "Oh, look, I will. We won. It doesn't matter does it?"
Even he was not convinced by that. "I should be elated and over the moon but I'm just still kicking myself a bit."

Did anyone else notice how nervy BC was at the pens? Despite everything her connections said about how laid back she always is, she was jittering around like a kid with stage fright before the start.
And she was definitely running on her last spoonful of petrol at the end ... but all the more credit to the horse that she gave it her all. It answers a question I've been asking in the other 21 wins: What would she do if she was seriously challenged? She never was before. Now we know she has guts as well as talent.

Don`t think she will take her place in the July Cup,if they think Ascot is stiff the Hill at Newmarket would find her out big time..

a few questions ...had bc jockey ever ridden at ascot before?because of the stiff 1200 would she not have been better off in the king stand over 1000m on the tuesday? i thought luke nolan looked very nervous at the start and in the pens and maybe this rubbed off onto her...it definitly wasnt her best yesterday and maybe it all caught up to her having had 4 seasons of racing rising 6yo mare...i heard during an interview that she had done all her track work in oz and considering she got to england abt 10 days to 2 weeks before the race maybe she wasnt as sharp as she could have been ..apparently she did nothing more than one or 2 half pace workouts and considering how big she is maybe this wasnt enough...

I was interested to see that Black Caviar's grandsire Royal Academy (via Bel Esprit) is also the sire of Ato (Pat Shaw/Barend Vorster) that just won the Gr 1 Steward's Cup at Kranji today ... over a mile. Maybe Muhti can say something of Royal Academy's influence for speed/stamina?

Jockey was very disappointing with his ride. He really looked like the loser when he queen presented the trophy to him
Think she did all she could given the poor ride.
Lucky bugger. Top Mare
if ridden properly she would have been more impressive.
