Thanks Sabre.....did not know exactly when he had waffled of this mortal coil.....arrivals of stallions at certain studs are all hype and fanefare....and when they go missing its like a state secret....so even less chance of him being like Jan Ekels.....saw a few nice matings on the NHRA site only covered in 2008 2009....but another state secret if the foals are even alive.....:S

We had a run in with a "sire of the moment" imported from the US as well. We bought a colt out of "Raise a Man" who was said to be a beast from the West. He had the looks, pedigree and action to be a top stallion.
We got a relative cheapy out of a super sprinting family (The "Scarlet" family - I'm sure muthi knows who Im referring to). He was big and full of substance, he had a great action and could sprint like nothing. Our trainer put him over 1800m and broke his heart. Won two races after that and landed up in Bloem and then Mauritius.
Point being that, at the time Raise a Man was supposed to be the second coming.......Not so I'm afraid!

I thought a brazillian was bigger than a zillion.

in limpopo we had racecouses at ellisras ,potgieterrus, nylstroom, baltimore, rustenburg and once a year on new-years day BESKA....BESKA was attended by sometimes up to 10 000 people over new-years .....Beska was started by die the boere in 1952 and the farm(where the course was on) was sold in 1994......very sad ending to the biggest tradition in the bushveld after 42 years ,it was initially only boerperd racing but in the 80's they also allowed real racehorses....the only racecouse that is still active is the one in ellisras and its only on new-years day that their is racing and boeresport.....Fanie chambers, luchelle kruger, aart van der lingin ,Wallice Tolmay all learned there trade their.....It would be awesome to take a bunch of you clansman to experience a new years day at the bushracing.....

I hear you! I searched around the internet to find out the approximate date.
Where did I end up finding it? Racingpost.co.uk!
It's hard enough to find anything local than even mentions the horse died, though I think it might be available on the paid subscription part of Aro.
