info wanted please

When I was watching the winner in the No 1 box the other day I noticed someone official-looking come up and clip a dangling tag onto the horse's bridle. What is this, can anyone enlighten me?

Is a tag that says...' I need to give a sample' ( .............. Just joking old friend ..I have no idea.

why, you want to volunteer...:

The Official approaches the trainer with a little card that the trainer needs to sign acknowledging and giving permission for the NHRA to take either a urine or blood sample from that horse. That card is placed into that tiny white plastic container and clipped to the horse's bridle. When the sample is finally obtained from the horse, that signed consent card is attached to the sample. This way nothing gets mixed up. Several horses can be in the specimen area at once. If a horse does not give a urine sample by 30 mins after the last race (or due to various other circumstances within the rules), then they will take a blood sample instead. And assistant trainer can also sign on the trainer's behalf, if the trainer is not present or available.
