Stephen rode one of my biggest winning bets to victory.
Don habib had preached gold mark to myself and palotone during a trip to sun city a week before sa nursery. We arrived on course and the heavens opened. I took doubles into Kadarko ridden by stepehn jupp @ 20/1 and he came home lonely in the heavy going.

As for Rhys
I can only speak highly of him. Last year i sat with Mrs Hemming for about 2 hours chatting about racing and she rated him as supreme.
And
At Francois Naude's 21'st (held at Rhy's house in Alberton) after much consumption of alcohol i was appointed stipendary steward in a shetland pony race at about 1h00am. Needless to say i stood in a pothole and twisted my (football) injured ankle. I could NOT walk and was helped into the house. What happens next sums Rhys up, him and his then wife sat me down in the kitchen and took off my shoe, they then administered ice packs to my foot for about an hour. I will never forget that day, one of SA best ever sportsman helped me ou big time.
That ankle never healed, 2 weeks ago i had another cortisone injection to alleviate the pain. My doctor says that within 5 years i will not walk properly. On the bright side i will be able to park closer to the doors of shopping malls. I think had Rhys and his wife not acted as they did my injury would have been even worse.
Rhys if you read this thank you.
I saw him during his demon days in Santon and said hello. I am glad he is at the JA and i know that his contribution to those lighties will be priceless.

WAY TOO MANY!!!
The rule of thumb WAS 5 appies per year across the country
These 20 are only the licensed appies for KZN!
Half will be lucky to make it while the other half are already too heavy...
At least they get a better schooling and grounding now for life after racing and I believe that one of the Matrics will be furthering their studies next year during his free time
