I guess I may be the only one not too excited by this field and the size of it also seems to have shrunk. Maybe there are some who don't want to be hit hard with the merit ratings if placed in this gr1 race but who knows why the maximum runners not present, this is after all THE Guineas most want to win in the country.
There is no buzz like will Cape Town Noir get revenge on King OF Pain for their last encounter or maybe I've been too long in the game and spoilt for choice with the clashes of yesteryears, it just seems like part 2 of the Selangor?

Imo the betting is wrong - some of the 'others' in the race do no deserve to be at the prices they are, both Pater and Sanshawes finished close enough to the top 2 in the Selangor to suggest that if anything goes a bit awry in the race, there could be an upset - and then there is Black Toga - apparently Marcus does not believe he will get the 1600 - personally I can't see why not - I think if The Hangman was in the race, he would have won by 3.

If I were to take a jacky I would put the top two plus pater plus Sanshaawes and Love Struck. I don't think Black Toga or Chave'de ouro will stay.
Me too will be ducking eggs. I still think CTN will win but it will be hard work and the jacky would be for cover!

Agreed Frodo. I think the betting is tight on CAPE and KING. Yes, they are two very good horses but there are some other seriously good horses too (like BLACK TOGA and CHAVE). I suppose good punting value on those...

Black Toga ran 1600 as 2ys old 2nd to Hangman grade 1. Was tote fav to win that day. strange if they thought then he could win over 1600 and not 6 months later

I've watched 1000's races but the perspective of the jockey is just so different. Around the bend there doesn't seem like much you could do, and this horse was between the rail and King Of Pain for most of the bend. It all happens far more quickly to me than compared to the normal view.
Relatively, they all going quiet a similar speed, so you gain slowly on some horses and the ones not stopping in front look impossible to reel in. I'm really beginning to think 87% of a fit jockey's work is to secure the right ride, and another 10% is what happens as the gates open and the first 100m. Many of the decisions in a race seem to be taken for you by the accumulative movement of everyone..like fish or birds or dominoes.
Winner was so superior, I can't figure out how they've beaten him before.

Many thanks...(tu) It probably won't be too long before all jocks have to wear a camera and we as punters will view our bet from the jocks webcam.....It may cause a lot more entertainment from us armchair critics.....

I've always liked him but yesterday it seems everything just went for him-

Loved the different viewpoint. Also interesting to see (or more succinctly) hear that More was much quieter than the previous jock in the Variety Club race. He only clicked at the horse a few times down the straight.
Sanshaawes clearly has no problems going through gaps though.
