the problem is Pomo seems to think he must win every race nowadays - (Tarry better tell him The Met is his mission)

I think VC has just been dealt with a raw deal. From that draw, imo, impossible to win. Will use up too much early as he loves to race handy and maybe will just be found wanting at the business end. Jackson, may catch him?I don't know! But what I do know is that I will be having a solid win bet on Pomodoro if I was just wanting to take a blind bet. With draw 7

I have to concur that Variety Club has all the credentials - but the draw imo is a problem - Jackson on the other hand imo will not be a factor over the 1600 - the Met could be different story - look at the facts: Since the Daily News, Jackson has had 3 runs, unplaced in the July (granted he is better than that), 3rd over 1400 (yes he certainly needed that) and then beaten fair and square by Variety CLub over 1600.
Since the Daily News, Pomodoro has had 3 runs, winning all 3, the last one easing up (improving a few lengths on a line through Chesalon). Slumdogmillionaire just beat Pomodoro in the SA Classic, but surely needs to have improved (which is not impossible) in order to finish close to Pomodoro again.
So I'd go Pomodoro, Variety Club and a toss up for 3rd between Slumdogmillionaire and What a Winter for 3rd - and that's assuming that Pomodoro is aimed at the Queen's Plate (why supplement him otherwise) and not necessarily the Met

The disseminated betting for the Queen's Plate is out. Variety Club still at 1/1 despite the widest draw:

Variety Club will not have a problem from a wide draw with his gatespeed, he will be flying out and will be in front going into the bend with strydom and pomo in 2nd making it no cape crawl but a true run race,Jackson will be wide midfield or at the back and out of his ground with too much to do coming into the straight.....Strydom will press the button at the 600m to force Variety Club to kick early ,Variety will then be going 1-2 lenghs clear at the 500m but how long Variety Club can keep his head in front is a mistery because pomodoro can change gears from the 600m and wont be stopping........
Huge race and Variety Clubs biggest test to date, what would have be interesting is if Capetown Noir was in the race......on times over Kenilworth 1600m new course the only time that Variety could ever beat Capetown noir was when he lost against Gimmethegreenlight in last years Queens........

......@Ziets a fair sumation and me being both a Pomodoro and VC fan I see a bigger result due to tactics......VC beats the draw gets to the lead and drops anchor.....field compacts trapping Pomo midfield and Jackson at the back....Pomo and VC start to accellerate too late only to be collared by the Western Winter sprinter.....:
......or they all blast from the gate to trap VC on the outside.....and Jackson mows them down at the finish....all set for the Met double....:S
This can go any way and there will be plenty plotting.....never rated WAW as he has not really shown what his pedigree is capable of.....at stud he will...... with the right mares get projeny to stay.....he needs to bag a Gr1 mile to make him a better stallion proposition....

i have a question
What a Winter comes in highest rated at 120 a sprint form rating. Level weights if he gets beat and runs 1st 4 are the others going to be penalized for beating a sprinter. He is at the moment maybe a 110 miler not a 120.
Would like to know?
