Been into horses since I can remember, used to ride my bicycle 10km to a farm near my hometown just to go riding, went to the Equestrian centre in Potch where I did my 2 years in the army back in '89 was the last intake that had to do the full 2 years, hated it but the horses made it worthwhile.

Best Horse I've seen in the flesh : Empress Club, Scottsville think she passed the R2m stakes mark in the race, commentator said she is "smooth as silk". Oh and she paid R5.80 a place as a long odds on.

Pravin J Chetty - B&B in DBN (24 yrs spent there), but ply my trade in coal mining (shooosh) I'm 2 yrs away from an equal tenure away from the coast. Hail from a family of punters and remember going to G at a young age (one plus for the Ap Sys - officials didn't seem to mind the young of our ilk on the course) Spent much lecture time at the Big G, Clairwood and PMB, and survived Uni when Senor Santa sht hd Senor Smith and Jungle Rocket in the Smirnoff. Trif pd R3k, for fees (if Smith had won at 20-1, much more, as I'd roaved Santa) - obviously my fav race, fllwd by Main and Model, the former ridden by my fav joc (hope he gets well ASAP) - huge celebrations, esp with Screwdrivers costing just 50c - where are the sponsors?
1st job as a jnr geologist on the mine opposite the Vaal (what a coincidence) and played cricket with Johan van Eck and the lads from the Vaal O&T (Deshone, Paul Whitmore, young Millard, Stephen Moffat, etc.) I had to traverse the Vaal river each day, because of the absurd rules governing Indians in the OFS in the early 90's, yet survived to own a few horses since 2010.

Sharks, Dolphins, MU, Lamb Curry, S&G and the Beatles (go figure on 1st 4 accounts) - J&B, though my Nov trip to Edinb. to watch the Bokke has led to a good appreciation for Single Malts (expensive business though)
Fav horse is Surfing Home and I'm sure clanners know which race I detest the most.

And yep I do own the major part of PJ, retrospectively off course
