If they skipped the Met, then why take on the extra furlong and handicap conditions of the July? Don't think they'll supplement

VARIETY Club will not run in the Vodacom Durban July and he also looks like having to miss his intended target of the Breeders’ Cup Mile at Santa Anita in California on November 2.
But an ambitious international campaign is being mapped out for South Africa’s Horse of the Year.
Derek Brugman, racing manager for owners Markus and Ingrid Jooste, confirmed the July situation yesterday and added: “The route we are now planning is for Variety Club to go with the Mike de Kock horses via Mauritius and hopefully get to Hong Kong in time for the Hong Kong Mile in early December. We have received an official invitation.
“We could then look at the Dubai Carnival, race him in Europe and then possibly go for next year’s Breeders’ Cup Mile before bringing him back to stand at stud in South Africa.” - Phumelela

the daily news and the clairwood challenge is a week apart so he couldnt run in both,,,give credit where it is due under difficult circumstances joey ramsden has done a superb job with him throughout his career and what really impresses me is he has whats best for the horse by not running him in the july...the same CANNOT be said about a few horses who will run in the july against their trainers advice
