mr h why should it be the case that racing stakes are lost when punters go to a bookmaker?

In fact, at the time, I did a presentation to RA and P to consider allowing Betfair to operate legally.
If they introduced a Rand wallet, to allow proper taxation, in addition to potentially HUGE sponsorship?
Its another point of many still on the table or unanswered?
Note! I also took the liberty to hand out a couple of books "Betfair for Dummies", which have not been returned, but it is a great read.

Stakes coupled to turnover through PPrizemoney in Phumelela regions is determined by a stakes formula based in the main on a percentage of turnover. The RA has again agreed that a portion of nomination and entry fees be paid to Phumelela Gaming & Leisure Ltd and PGL in turn make an additional contribution to stakes.

"The gross amount as per the stakes agreement with Phumelela (which is made up: 75% South Africans betting on local racing, 19% from turnovers on imported product, 2% from Soccer 6 and 1% of net profit from exported SA product) will deliver R132 million (up 7,4%). If we then factor in the deductions and contributions to the jockeys remuneration scheme, the basic minimum riding fee, subsidies to trainers for night and Sunday racing and then add the contributions to stakes from the Racing Trust, stakes have increased by 10,5%. This comes on the back of a substantial increase last year."

yes, only tote PROFIT (not turnover) is relevant to stakes, but why should the stakes pot not also benefit from bookmaker betting?

The tote makes profit every time you place a bet win or loose hence turnover is vital

Mr H, I guess you won't need my input to report the efficacy of the NEW tab-online to your connections?
