Four places here Tim.I think GAUNTLET is the safer of the two though.And his jock is in a bit of form too.

R1 I'm going to go against the general trend here (and probably sense!). Although I believe Mr H to be correct on the intimidation comment regarding Roman Express, I don't think it affected the outcome much. Yes, the form of his debut was good and he has more scope for improvement. But, he did only finish 1l ahead of Quad Bay, who was also possibly slightly interfered with in the last 100 or so and my marginal preference is for QB to reverse the form. He ran from 14/14 in that race while RE had the 1 box. Although RE again has the better draw, QB is better drawn this time in 8 and, perhaps most importantly, they now run on the inside track. On the standside track, though close up in a couple of runs, QB is unplaced in 4 starts. He quite possibly has a strong favouring for the inside course where he has placed on all 5 visits including both times he has attempted the distance. With Henry of York drawn highest of all in 16 I'm going to discount him and look for value elsewhere. Tobe Turf Terror raced 3.5l behind QB in his penultimate start and is drawn well in 4. Put Foot Singe raced 1.5l behind QB last time (standside track), he is drawn badly in 15 but was also drawn badly (13/14) in that last run. Given their big prices, both should be considered for places and exotics. My big concern though is the overall quality of the races they have run which do not seem to be the strongest, with few subsequent winners etc, with the exception of RE's maiden run. The dark horse may be the former KZN runner, Club Lane. Unlike many of these, he has raced against subsequent winners and last time out was 0.75l ahead of Plate of Platinum who was a d/h winner on Tuesday. Not convinced the drop in distance is ideal but with Brown up from the 1 draw, he should perhaps not be overlooked.

@ Englandee, QB has had many attempts to shed maiden
RE with improvement alone should now be 3l in front of QB not just 1. I think its near impossible for a well tried maiden 2 fin in front of this obvisiouly half decent younger horse.

When I say many and well tried, it may be a bit over exagerated as iv done my tom in on quad bay a few times. But I suppose 9 attempts is a lot nowadays!? And can be borderline well tried

I think Swift Bow won at his 21st attempt the other day Sheza...

Bud, you could be right, I use a very simple approach and based on that I marginally prefer QB. If we all agreed it would be 1/9 fav! My bet though will probably be Club Lane e/w and he's on his 12th attempt! :P

@Ben-Hur:

'At the break of dawn this young man was gunned down outside a Durban mosque. An upcoming rally driver and himself an orphan to a tragic road accident two decades ago- to pass on in this holy month is a lifelong desire for all Muslims.His parent was a good friend of mine.mGbh'

For anyone to be gunned down as such anywhere (at work, in front of family, etc) is devastating and most despicable, more so in front of a religious place (has already occurred at Churches, Synagogues and Temples).

It's equally despicable that not only will we not be told who the perpetrator is-if he's ever caught! and apprehended, then s/he will not be heard of as...only escaped, case dismissed for lack of ....., docket disappeared, etc!

There is justice in our country...for the criminal!

We all should be concerned....very, really concerned!

May I take this opportunity to wish all Muslim clanners peace, love and blessings?

Eid Mubarak!
