Still feel there is a great need for a serious shuttle to the VAAL as it is possibly the most nb venue for the smaller owner

Not to harp too much on the past but the bus to Gosforth Park or the train to Vaal racecourse from JHB Central doesn't really seem that long ago !
Surely something of the sort could be resurrected for Turffontein night meetings.

Fancy the ABC, luxury coach, includes drinks on the bus and FREE info and plenty banter on the bus, it would be worth driving from Joburg to get on the ABC bus, for plenty fun and games and prizes to be won, plus a couple of topless waitress, which I had the pleasure of meeting on a bus trip to Ellis park, cant remember the match, but what a great day

You too, hey? Now that brings back memories...
There was also a bus to Clairwood that used to leave from outside the old Receiver's building in West Street.

I remember a mate and myself catching the flutter bus one day. It broke down at the top of Fields Hill (no toll road back then) and rather than wait for the replacement bus we hitched a ride with a bunch of semi-hippy types in a Kombi.
It looked like something out of one of those road movies. The only thing that was missing was flowers plastered all over the Kombi. At least we made it for the first race...just.
Oh for the days when we would do anything to get to the races! Now, driving a few ks down the road to Greyville is a schlep.
