Well put Titch, perhaps the racing authorites need to go look back in the archives and see what the packed crowds looked like, racecard in hand, hats on heads, looking elusively for winners and a change of fortune.

I remember clearly in 2001 traveling up to Jhb with Gerrit and him winning the last running of the Germiston November Handicap on Taupo Retreat for Joe Ramsden I had to squeeze onto a table with some mates as it was a complete sell out and the grandstand was packed to the rafters ...how things have changed in 12 short years..
Give everything but up!

Big problem with problem gamblers in the UK since the boom of smart phones and sports betting advertising during soccer matches

Yes, they have moved to the Britannia Hotel (it is a private bookmaker actually, they just used to use the Betting World system).

Our worst commentator is also better than the UK's apparent chief commentator, Ian Bartlett, who is a definite reason for the mute button.

thats a matter of opinion ...they call the race no mention of betting coup landed or shouting at the top of his voice who ran stone last or trying to arse creep high profile owners when their horses win or trying to arse creep top jockeys when their horse wins by 6 lengths easing up shouting great ride ...give me the overseas commentators anytime of day or night...
