Flash, regarding prize money in UK,there is a solution.Have no on course layers,no rails bookmakers and have The Tote as the only
Means of punting on course and put some back into racing regarding facilities and prize money.
Could you imagine how much that would generate over the season with meetings like Royal Ascot,Cheltenham and Aintree.

Is that what you do in SA,is there any on course layers or is it Tote only.
Regarding UK being bankrupt,I don't see it when you look at the crowds at race meetings over Xmas, trouble is the money is in the bookies satchels.

Louis,well done today.

Thanks Pirho.
The site also says that sometime in the future one will have to subscribe for the service - for now it is free.
The site also requires your ID number which I always loathe to give.
I couldnt believe that I still remembered my telebet account number. I havent had a telebet punt in zonks...
Looking forward to "test" the stream.

As Pirho says....the SA feed no longer works. And soon (thanks to Garrick) ......... { considers baseball bat....} soon the UK one will also not work. As it is free the bandwidth and number of concurrent sessions is limited (assumption not fact) ....

It always concerns me when corporates feel the 'need' to charge for every single supplementary service they offer to induce you to buy their product or service. To me the 'streaming' service is advertising as it tempts one to bet; from which they earn fees.

I went to Interbet to check my figures. Remembering for a moment that the vast majority of my punting is on sport and not racing it still made interesting reading. ( It should also be noted that I often go weeks without a racing bet; I only bet on horses when I am bored or feeling vaguely relaxed about being conned ).

I paid betting tax on racing in 2013 of R 167,783. I bet almost exclusively with bookmakers as I take strong exception to having my stake raped by up to 25% by Saftote. ( I am not REMOTELY concerned about the funding of the sport in exactly the same way that I am not interested in who funds rugby, soccer, tennis etc. Nobody forces owners to buy horses; they do so for their own reasons which have a lot more to do with ego than money! )

It follows, therefore, that the operator received 50% of the betting tax - namely R 83,891 or R 6,990 per month during this period. Looking at it another way I could argue that I pay R 6,990 per month to watch their sport - about TEN TIMES what I pay DSTV for 100+ channels!!!!

The solution is simple. Find a couple of thousand more like me and you will quickly have a VERY profitable operation. But that won't happen for as long as you have a sport so poorly run and one which continues to suffer from a reputation of being grubby and crooked.
