I have owned a share in a horse who went to Dubai and won a race and ran second, Herman Brown took him over for me and I went over a lot and was extremely involved. You have NO idea what these poor horses have to go through. From leaving their yard to Cape Town, from Dbn, Jhb that is 20 to 25 hours alone on a truck and then all the drama they have to deal with in Cape Town and quarantine and then warm Mauritius and then to the freezing cold mid winter in the UK and a totally different terrain and then finally to Dubai where they also have to quarantine first which is not ideal either... Many of you have NO idea and DONT appreciate what theses animals and trainers go through, you only see the end product! Level the playing field, if only for the poor animals sake!

And Variety Club is a Champion, you've got to be ignorant to not appreciate this super horse! His record is phenomenal and I really hope he ends up at the Breeders Cup. Yes we as South Africans always want the best in the world and blah blah blah but doesn't everyone... The Aussies got with supporters clubs to to Uk for Ascot and so on... Go MDK and go South African horses and trainers, I for one love supporting our horses world wide :)

Neigh, your turning it into a South African crusade.i don't agree with the time these top, horses are kept in quarantine.
The African Horse Sickness bug incubates at the most for 14days,so in my eyes 21 days should be enough time to recognise any problems.
Put another week on top for certainty and make the quarantine period 28 days, not the 150 it is now.
It is not healthy having to go to Mauritius,UK and then onto Dubai. The Dubai quarantine is dangerous with the heat.
They are short of fitness to start with, but De Kock is a master at training and come the big night they are spot on.
Instead of looking at anyone who is non South African as a shit scared wanker, try looking on us as racing fans.

Imagine if a modern international sports team only played their games away from home and had to travel by boat to get there.

What would that disadvantage equate to ?

That's basically the conditions are equine sports stars are subjected to !

PL it's not the travelling,MDK is going to these venues for prize money and prestige.Same as overseas runners coming to Royal Ascot.
Your top horses need to travel to have decent competition and to promote SA racing,I don't see many overseas runners running in SA.
All because it takes so long to get them back after quarantine,it's farcical really and as a racing fan it needs sorting out.

Maybe someone with a bit more knowledge than me can shed some light on the appeal that was lodged regarding the time spent in quarantine.

DTF using a lot of bad chosen words late night to get my point across, sorry bud that you were on the receiving end. I think my fearsly patriotic button was pushed and I hate any sort of discrimination which is the case here. In short APARTHEID = Protocols to export SA horses. Our athletes (horses) are at a huge disadvantage to any other countries athletes. Not fair !! Errrrrr
Hibs, my dream bud and it is looking more and more a reality. Wouldnt that be amazing ? A privilege of a life time !! :D
So here's to level playing fields in the future. I heard there might be a way out through the USA that would cut the quarantine time ? Only talk though.
DTF lets give it some thought. (charity bet head to head or me against the world ;) )
