Unfortunately it's the horse (and not the trainer) that has to run on the sand ::o

Carded to run again on Saturday in R4, the red flags should be waving, you may well be on the right one.
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

Well done to the Vaal Track manager and his team. The work has paid off and Striker's interview after the 2nd yesterday, was a credit to them all. Things are moving forward very nicely. After all that rain, the surface was still the best that it has been for years. This is exactly how the course was designed in the first place, in that it would firm up with rain.

Changes were made to the existing track packer and the results were there. The new track packers have arrived, but, true to form, they were not manufactured to the desired specs, so have been sent back, for the necessary changes. This is also a good call, which proves that the track manager is not taking any nonsense and wants things 100% correct. When these are commissioned, even further improvements will be seen and the going will remain constant, from race 1 to race 10.

After the last race yesterday, I caught up with Piere and he was adamant that even the going in the last race yesterday was better than the last meeting's first race.

Its not perfect yet, but we are going forward, awaiting delivery of the properly completed track packers. The only challenge thereafter will be to contain the moisture in the surface during Winter, which is not easy in Gauteng.

Good to hear - I noticed that quite a few were running on nicely from behind - so that would make it more fair for horses drawn a bit wide - unfortunately from a punter's prospective, it would prove more challenging - if this trend continues, it would not be as easy as ignoring those drawn 10 and up around the turn
