I have been bringing this up also on other open bet threads as well.

That was our argument when we caught lots of jackpots in another center.only one way merchants .why do we take these type of bets? For a big payout....
My son took a bet , it was accepted then he was called during runnning of the first leg and told he was over limit and bet was cancelled.
Bookies should be able to take back with other bookies, that's the point...MAKE A BOOK

Let me get this right..
If you had a win bet on a outsider at Cheltenham and the sp was 16/1,but payed 40/1 on the Tote, they would only pay 32/1.
What about if the SP was 16/1 and it payed 8/1 on the Tote, would they pay you the 16/1.
No of course they wouldn't,it's robbery again by bad bookmakers

Interesting point is that these "adjustable &/or discretionary limits" seem a contradiction to the "fixed price"evidence submitted by the bookmakers in the "open bet" court case...................could that be cause for a new appeal application??????

HI RG, I have spoken to the team and we do currently do that. I can see it how can be misconstrued when reading the T&Cs but I have asked the team in charge of the T&Cs to change this.
What we have always done is that if your stake is R1000, and the pool limit is R2500, we will pay you the R2500 plus the R1000 stake back. If you look at your account it would only show a profit of R2500, as the R1000 stake is given back to you. So in essence if it were over the counter, we would pay your R3500 on handing in your ticket.
What Hollywood also does is that if you had losing exactas in your bet, we will include this too in your payout. Therefore if you had R880 stakes worth of losing exactas, your return would be R2500 + R880 = R3380. You would still leave with a profit of R2500.
As I said, we have always done this, we just need to adjust the T&Cs to read better.

The event had gone off the site as we were pricing up. Kempton is now there for this afternoon's racing.

Hi Dave, as I said before, we will only do this in the case where there is clear pool manipulation, and we don't get caught out.
Hollywood will always try do what's fair, and this was the case at Jebel Ali on the 7th of March. In Race 5, Ennobled Friend paid R1.20 because the tote left the race open. We went ahead and paid a dividend of R8.50 (or SP dividend of 15/2).
We applied the same principle at Flamingo Park on the 17th of February, Race 7. Imperani paid R3.30 (because of a massive bet from the UK that upset pools), and we paid a dividend of R9.25 (8.25/1).
If the pools are massive, and we feel right to pay out the full amount we will. However, if we can see clear manipulation we won't. We will always try do what is fair.

Thanks Dev,maybe Smashley can let us know what race it was that was manipulated..
And did you lay many bets at Jebel Ali and the Flamingo race, just trying to see if it's a practise when the race is not popular.
Is it a one off or would you do it on every race that looks like there was manipulation.
