Jhb racing is the hardest centre to make money,absolutely no consistancy at all.

Racing is the hardest "sport" in which to bet...to many extenuating factors to account with little value in terms of price eg. any top jockey sits on a horse with decent form and it is close to evens...all it takes is slow out the gates or a bump or no clear run or jockey has horse positioned badly / unbalanced and your bet is in the bin...

Many other sports, you can get the same evens in a head to head and the field is level save for the referee that may have some bias in favour of the home team...then there are spread bets to mitigate this (referee bias) by taking the result out of the game and betting on total points, total goals, etc...

Best decision I made was to drop the horse-racing bets...the lure of the big payout was dulled by the realisation that the odds were stacked against me...operator take-out, people in the know able to get prices, jockeys playing dodgems, not all information about horse well-being (gelding / no gelding) made available to the punter, etc...

So best of luck to the clanners that do enjoy the horses and do well at at...just too difficult for me so I'm trying to moves the scales more towards parity rather than as they are stacked against in racing...

Thanks...wouldn't make any difference...

@hibernia...I avoid the straight win or draw...may take win AND draw but most often I'll take total goals more than or less than, total points for rugby / basketball...so it doesn't matter to me which team wins...save for my current in running bet on Bangalore

I've posted about this before...team sports where draw highly unlikely (handball, rugby...excluding Chiefs playing SA team !!) or not an option (basketball, volleyball, etc)...
