I would ask to run my horses when they can rather than the old school train of thought ( once every 4 to 6 weeks)
Buddy Maroun and the Shams come to mind as having the correct mindset for owners

Tell my trainers invite me to c my horses gallop n b forthright n furthermore bring my horses on da course FIT TO RUN n not just RUN

If my horse is winning well over sprints(as a three-year-old) please don't try to force it to go ground to see if it can win a Classic (Normanz is a recent one - Big of Laird to admit it though )

I took carrots last time when i visited. Horses had no idea what a carrot was.- I was dissappointed after all I i was led to believe.
Also, as an owner,why can't you tell the trainer what you can/want ?
