Now just as there is a way to decline the amount of guessing in that,so is their with 1st timers. There are things to look at BESIDES hearing trainers comments to know IF the horse will run well or not...WILL the horse be ready sect, most are just to freaking lazy go go look for these help full pointers and prefer to bitch and moan...So Common people...if we want to make money,WE DO OUR HOMEWORK! When we FAIL...WE SWEAR AND LEARN!!!! As the best way of learning is thru FAILURE!!!!

You cannot compare a first-timer with a horse going on the Sand for the first time -
A horse that has raced before has that experience behind him. He understands what happens on the day - What it means to get on the float, the parade ring, sounds , new stables STARTING STALLS etc. All horses work on some type of Sand mostly while the grass is a luxury. A trainer sending a horse to the Sand has a reason for doing so - either the horse shows him something at home, or shows great work on the sand, or his breeding suggests that surface or even his action. Sometimes the Sand is a last resort as thhe horse has lost form or has never shown any ability. Soundness is also a reason for trying the Sand. Now the first timer is going racing for the first time, hence3 his title. This implies he has limited Racing experience - You will often hear connections say " He had only one grass gallop" or "This is his first look at the grass".

Morning Mr H...I agree fully with you. What I was referring to or meant was the UNKNOWN factor that comes with both cases.

You kinda right Engelsman...so let me share my knowledge on 1st timers at least,to help the average man out there...and you are also right,I DONT mention these things as to me,they are secrets, that I've worked throughout several nights over the years to find,in order to improve myself. But I can share my findings on 1st timers....

BETTING:
In honest truth I couldnt care less abt a price of a horse or support for that matter, unless its SPIES,MARWING,LAIRD or ZAKI stables. Some trainers get their youngstas ready, others don't...the above mentioned...than ADD NIEWENHUYSEN and ZACKEY...these 2 yards are especially well with long priced runners.

BREEDING:
I use SPORTING POST to check the breeding.WHat to look for on their is quite obvious...just as ROB had ENFORCE as his BB with Marcus...if 1 take breeding/ form/jock trainer combo than you get an obvious indication.

TRAINERS:
Each province has at least 2 or 3 trainers that dominate with juveniles...find out who they are and follow.Than some trainers just do better than others over certain tracks/distances...example would be:On Saturday za key had a juvenile over 1450m at turffies...Stable said will need the outing...but was shrewdly supported and as previous records showed me,he is a masterly at landing coups over that CD...needless to say places was a giveaway.

JOCKEYS:
Some are just better than other, fact! Some prefer sprints, some prefer distance races...some are good with frontrunners, some come from off the pace...

Owners + Breeders:
Some owners love breeding horses swell than they do well with the 1st timers ...MrY Khan is such a owner/breeder I like to follow and get 50/1's from him and Binds more than some get the 'Bet of the year' lol.

These are things that have been mentioned on here a lot and it is relatively straightforward...but if applied correctly should greatly increase or knowledge of 1st timers.Unfortunately you will have to do the homework of what trainers to follow, jocks act..

Last thing...

LOGIC:
HOUDALAKIS/MAUJEAN are very good combo for VAAL 1200M...so why isn't he on the horse who has run and a better draw????
SPIES/CHAMBERS...SILVAN JAZZwas in a juve feature last time out...things like that...

I might have missed a thing or 2 as I did this outta my head now but will check my notes and add it here if I missed something...Good luck

.....I enjoy these races crammed with 1st timers as I seem to find big value in going wide and boxing swingers with horse that I deem to be "better" bred than others, however race 1 is already looking like one for those who follow the betting as I see early tote money for the Tarry 1st timer nicely bred and MDK charge should also be in the fray.....Heinrich has already pointed to the Spies horse that ran in a strong Juvenile field.....others with claims on pedigree would be the Marshall runner and the one from Ferraris......the big dog to spoil the better breds may come from the Lucky H bunch AND all four seem to be bred for further but one may be running on to snare a share of the prize money.....let see the betting moves closer to the race.... ;)

....not too much actually.....but this could be anything......Mommy won 1st time out over 1000m at Turffies and the owner thought he had a super star.....but even though a 5 time winner.....
Ramsden had to raid PE for 3 of those wins.....the mating to Trippi not the best.....but owner's Daddy is big mates with the breeder and owner of the mare which means that they could not sell baby for a hype price.....these guys can punt though....so if there is a bit of a strike then get on.....but I will be looking for a winner else where.....
