Yep,the old men at the NHA weren't getting any so it wasn't an acceptable name.

Those objections were ignored by the Jockey Club. Would it be unfair to consider them inconsistent with this latest ruling?

a Muslim legal expert who is empowered to give rulings on religious matters.

What's all the fuss? One of the rules of horsenaming is no religious connotations. Thats the rule and obey the rules else llobby support to change the rule but dont tarnish yourself after the event showing your ignorance of the rules. Flip sakes...

He was originally owned by Sheik Hamdan and I presume he named him - So being Muslim and having raced under that name in Europe how could anyone object ?

Saint Actavius
Saint Andrew
Saint Angelique
Saint Barts
Saint Basil
Saint Catherine
Saint Claire
Saint Crispin
Saint Deportista
Saint Dominic
Saint Donan
Saint John Bosco
Saint Malachy
Saint Marco
Saint Pierre
Saint Sophia
Saint Stephen
ALL have religious connotations and ALL are currently registered by the NHA according to formgrids.
I have not attempted a search under "Holy", "Sacred" or any like religious catchword. Shouldn't these all be changed as they clearly flout the religious rules?
What is good for the goose is good for the gander surely.

Rob Faux, you are incorrect. I respect your knowledge and intelligence but it doesnt mean that I have to agree with you and you do not irritate me. I still think your idea for a tote owned betting exchange is like a masterstroke. You've ionce nvited me for a drink at the late Mike O'Connor's which I still want to honour.
Back to the topic. Can I call my horse "f.ck" just because that word is continually beamed from Hollywood? No I can't, not because Hollywood beams it but because the NHA rules say I shan't.

Well Mac ,then lets be accurate..............the only rule that comes into play does NOT mention religion!!!!!! ..........it is rule 35-1-6 and rejects: those in bad taste or which have an unacceptable connotation IN ANOTHER LANGUAGE.(exact wording)
I suggest that the name Fu!k in your example might be generally construed as bad taste ...............a City in Texas might not have the same unanimous response!!!!!!
