I really enjoyed watching igugu run!
Of course dance with the devil,
Always believed run for it was a champ but never showed up
A great friend of mine owned a bomb,
Ziparana, won first time out for me that was a machine,
Then ran 2nd to soft falling rain,

Perhaps Pirates or someone else with a better memory than I can help - I think it was the Cape Guineas where I think it was Turncoat and another horse who bumped as they came for home and perhaps one or more came down - I recall Jeff Lloyd and Basil Marcus being involved maybe - And my memory also takes me to a grey horse either winning or being involved. Hope someone is clearer than me.

Johnny rode Jollify when deadheating with Sea Cottage, Dave Safi actually met him 2 years back whilst in Hong Kong,A little known fact is that his dad Jackie trained Beau Art as a maiden before it moved on to Johnny Nicholson, Jackie trained some really good horses , Fuzzy Rag, Faro and Summer Dream spring to mind, Stephen Jupp rode the latter in all the Juvenile features and on 3 occasions ran 2nd to Terry Ryan's Black Killer ridden by Dennis Bosch...

Igugu won the triple tiara, the woolavington the July and then the Met.

She has to be one of our greats. If she was 100% well in dubai none of those horses wouldve touched her. The Apache beat her in dubai and she beat him easily in South Africa and he went on to win the Arlington race only to be disqualified into 2nd. But this shows just what a monster a sound Igugu was

A few others names that come to mind are Hawkins, Yamani and Yatahan, not sure of the spelling of the last one. There was also an A division horse that Muis use to ride for his brother in law or father in law called Teds Ambition.

Check out the above link. The history of South African racing since inception. Some great names mentioned which include Hawaii, Colorado King, Bold Tropic, Jungle Cove and many more. We cannot forget National Emblem, a great trier. Jungle Rock the grey, Charles Laird had a horse called Rusty Pelican that won a fare share but I think went wrong.
