Sealegs

Only 1 problem with your post.

short sighted = correct
self enriching = incorrect

Craig Eudey is not self enriching himself. (I'm being serious here) he really wants to do well. BUT the machine he surrounds himself by is too big and has the wool well pulled over his eyes.

Mr Hawkins is not a gazilionaire, but he acts on behalf of the machine to make 1 or 2 richer…..

So the actions of enrichment are not of the many in charge but of the 1 or 2 that either

1: have photos with fistings and golden showers
2: have a draw fall of IOU's
3: have spun it in such a way that middle management believes without question
4: rely on family connections to keep the machine moving forwards

Amazing!! But true??
I have seen more of this going on than most would believe in my 41 years as a trainer.
Watch your back LG. They will try to get you.
I have also installed cctv cameras but when i ask where are the cameras in Summerveld and the holding area at Greyville and Scottsville.None to be seen. Why? Because the powers dont give a RATS A.

Interesting, Huchergh. ..
I travelled Bah to KZN for a Friday night, had Anton on and he was favourite....He was flat in the parade ring...ran tailed off...course vet reported not striding out near fore after race...I was not called or informed by vet...read it later...but what happened later was scary.. I have had this horse all his life and he is a very tough chap, ice cold legs, sound legs...
But, upon return to Ashburton he went into colic for tbe first time in his life and we had to get a vet out...
Now here's the story -
1) Our float came from jhb to Ashburton on thursday with runners for Greyville Friday night and for Sunday Scottsville. Tony Nassif travelled with us on same float. His horses won and placed Friday night.
2) I drove back to Vaal Sat at 3 am, after Bah was stabilised ( Easy was with), worked my runners, went racing on Sat at Turffontein and returned to Scottsville Sunday. Trip Tease won the Dash, Varbration ran a cracker and the 7 year old ex PE horse Silent Partner ran 3rd. The horses had travelled and done well. But, the shortest priced of the lot, with Anton up, got lost on Friday night. ..
And then is reported not striding out....we could not and still cannot find any injury, heat or swelling.

I have often noticed that fancied horses, when they run poorly are examined by the course vet and are allegedly not striding out...

Now , a few thoughts. ..
1) Could a declaration of "not striding out" be the easy way out, get the clanners off the back, when a favourite is beaten or is it fact ? I don't know, but it begs the question in some cases, especially if you are racing at Vaal and by chance your vet is at the yard and upon return, examines the horse and cannot find anything amiss. ..
2) I see horses go to post very short and hear / read nothing about it after the race.
3) U also see jockeys who are beaten complain that the horse is not striding and then the vet trots the horse and finds something...
4) Could it be that the jocks call the shots here, that they cover a poor ride etc by complaining and then the vet finds something and everyone is exonerated ?
5 ) Every horse has four legs...It is strange that so many near fore limbs are a problem ?

The Good, I hear you. It is unbelievable, in my humble opinion, the finding against me for the vaccination issue. We are talking about horses being 4 days late. In the enquiry, the course vet who is also on the board eventually admits that I did mention that I had a problem obtaining vaccines in time....I supply proof that I tried a vet supplier to get vaccines.... I am also the one who has driven the issue on making EHV vaccinations mandatory as in UK. I have driven this since 2013. What we have is a recommendation that horse's should be vaccinated on the NHA site, but Dr.Wheeler will not make it mandatory. Oh, by the way, in Gauteng alone, my estimate is that Owners are paying vets an estimated R6M per annum to treat virus. ..
Lets leave it there. .. I could ( and probably will, soon ) write many pages.
This Trainer has had enough, quite frankly.

Well Done Louis

PLEASE BRING HONG KONG Jockey Club stipes to South Africa !!! , they will police racing like it should be

Remember July Day years ago
Woodruff had Candidata Roy 1:4 fav , ran a dirty 4th while traveling like a winner - also stopped like he ran out of steam or did not go on with his run - nothing under the jockey
All the other stable horses in the betting ran dismal with same symptoms , only big priced horses ran well or placed like Superwood

I seem to remember blood samples were taken from all the suspects that night BUT nothing ever came about or was investigated by Jockey club. Amazing how these instances are NEVER investigated

This is slightly off the trend of where this thread has gone, but it bears mentioning.

I know nothing about being a stipe.I've never spent any time in a stipes room watching their race replays with their better equipment than what I have at home.

However,I have watched a helluva lot of race replays at home.In fact I'd go so far as to say I doubt there's anyone in SA who's watched as many race replays as I have.

As a result I am comfortable saying that recently the 'policemen' as either completely clueless or we are at the point where a lot is allowed to just slide.

In recent weeks I have on two occasions now seen a top,top jock who's conveniently been very casual in 'allowing' a strongly supported runner drawn to his inside to get a better position inside of him than he should be doing. As it is,in both instances this fancied runner has in fact gotten beaten. That however,is immaterial,as this is a patent form of cheating.

Imo it's impossible that someone who watches races regularly wouldn't pick this up if it was their job to notice things like this.

That is why it is so important that these guys get a better understanding of betting markets. They give the clues as to what one should be looking out for.
