Corrugations??????? I cant get hold of anyone as got a new phone and sim swop in progress but from the photo I saw those were man made to help the water drain off the poly track that was also coming off the grass track, It was raining so hard that the drain in between could not handle the volume coming down at the time. One or two runs over it with the gallop master would have had those gone and fine again again. I wish people who knew nothing would shut up and not make assumptions. Please name that trainer.

Guys, Im not a poly fan, no kidding  , but Kurt seems to be on the ball with his knowledge and workings of the poly. He seems to be dedicated to giving us the best product he possibly can, so after all the rain Im sure if we could race we would. Note, Im not coming up for the poly but well for the person (Kurt). :pinch:

Message from Graeme Hawkins

1. The Turf and Poly tracks are configured to handle “normal” weather challenges which occur from time to time, bearing in mind Durban’s average annual weather conditions. We did not plan, nor were we able to, for those exceptional rare occasions when Durban would experience the torrential rain such as we have seen over the past few days. 300mm of rain in the space of 54 hours is pretty exceptional and the storms caused havoc in and around the City. Let’s maintain a fair perspective here. People have lost their lives, their homes and enormous damage has been caused in many areas. All we have lost is a race meeting!!
2. The true and only reason for the abandonment today is that Greyville is waterlogged following 300mm of rain as per the announcement made by the Company this morning. I am at a loss as to why anyone thinks there is an ulterior motive. Yesterday, the officials at Durbanville were criticised for starting the meeting and then calling it off after just one race and now today we are criticised for timeously abandoning a meeting which clearly could not take place with any guarantee of safety to horse and rider.

Kind regards

Very much so and that's what annoys me about these people who have never been on it, seen the work done and sit and sling off from behind their computers and pseudonyms. You were the ONLY person who came and checked it out when we issued that open invitation( I know some are from out of town but so are you) and saw it before the machines were on and after. At least you can make an informed opinion! Thank you for taking the time out to see it and chat to Kurt. He does a very good job and is very transparent as you saw. Now let someone say that the poly was the reason we didn't race????????????

thanks to mr hawkins for his reasons why we didnt race his make sense and mr eudeys no sense ..his statement clearly yet again flies in the face of mr eudeys whether he likes it or not and he needs to read mr hawkins statement over and over and then his own and then maybe he will understand why rob ts and i were confused and im sure many others ..case closed we move on

I take exception to being told to shut up Craig, you take your poly track which I do not give a shit about and shove up your arse.

I really have little time for your opinion which is so defensive you should see if there are vacancies for GC trainers.

I was never going to race/bet today but was just giving information that I received to other interested clanners. Instead of trying to stand on your high horse which is actually a Shetland pony, you should have been giving the information this morning. Hours after people post pictures and statements are released your opinion is no longer needed.

Transparency & communication that way you and Graeme would avoid defensive communication.

The Greyville grass is waterlogged. As you can see the poly could have been raced on but the pull up is on the grass which was dangerous if you go too far. Anyway Pirates and Tigershark as the experts they believe they are can now give you their info and opinions. They obviously know more than me so carry on. They are wrong but tired of listening to people who are biased to the extreme and believing people that do not have a clue about the track. Good bye. Sorry Bob but having to listen to this selective shit the straw has just broken the camels back.

Craig,it seems that there is no balance to your defense of Gold Circle.
You say that it's what you see and information you get from people you trust, but you do not seem to be discerning with that stuff!
Who gave you the figures of double the rainfall on the turf as on the poly - I can only assume that by posting that you didn't stop to decide if it makes any sense!
The problem is that if you are so intent on defending everything so zealously, regardless of the facts, your own credibility gets lost!
Let's be honest gold Circle's "track" record is diabolical and the sooner they stop defending the cock ups and start working on the solutions, the better the chance of saving the situation -it now requires sound financial trading...there are no more assets to strip ....the cupboard is now bare!
I cannot remember one racing club having to sell off assets to survive!.......since corporatization it's never stopped!

(Mr Hawkins talks about how Greyville was configured - it's perfectly understandable that it is waterlogged with the amount of rain this week ......but that doesn't explain that the way it it is configured doesn't work ...full stop -and it never will, as even if they acquire more land,it is inside the existing layout, making the track so tight as to be useless -you couldn't increase fields cos the draw bias would be worse than Dbville)

Happen to be listening to Tellytrack .......just heard Sean Tarry explain the reason Legal Eagle is not in the Champions cup ........not prepared to risk the horse on the track!!!!!!
Coupled with MdK's comments , nobody can pretend that Gold Circle's track woes are the figment of the imagination of cyber morons hiding behind computers....seems the top trainers agree!
