Me and my gang fancied DAN...ALOT!!! If y'all do your homework for a change than you wouldn't have to complain all the time.

Homework? For me it's pretty hard to find a 7-1 shot beating a 1-3 shot even reading the form book

Than maybe its time to try something different? Slots?sports? The bookmakers that price races up...are only human, and the most important FACT punters tend to forget...is that horses are animals...they have their own minds, and DONT know their prices! ...when money favs gets rolled DAILY...especially in small fields! Just got to look for the reasons WHY they will get beat early on and find the value!

Are you serious that the way you read the race card it was there for all to see that Doing It For Dan was going to beat Trip Tease?

I don't think you or anyone else can put it anymore clear.
Cheers.

You guys should actually listen to Heinrich. When studying form, never ever look at the betting before opening the card. Then make objective opinions about each horses chances looking at four or five basic FACTS. (which vary for most punters). And IN MY OPINION merit Rating is not one of them. Once you have your short or not so shortlist, you can have a look at the betting and if there are surprises, revisit each and see if there is anything you missed initially.
I no longer study because it is very time consuming and quite selfish to one's partners. I glance at cards and place bets, small ones with my pocket money. Hollywood will never limit me {friendly wave to DTF}

Cheers Magi.
Since you mention that you play with pocket money, without assuming that amount. Can I ask if you were Punting horses on the nose. (If that pocket money is a larger budget) Forget doubles and exotics etc. Would you bet any different?
PS on paper the horse that was priced up favorite is way better than the winner. (Without looking at prices?
I had no punt in this race so that's regardless however it sure amazes me how people find those winners only after the race.

More importantly i have this thing about being negative and letting it grow etc etc. The other day is done and i am over it.
There are far more important things to focus on and actually look ahead. It is just an irritation to harp on stuff. Does nobody any good.
That said time to find a double for today.

Guys, no offence as I am no expert here. If I look at that race then Trip Tease was definitely right one based on form studying (ignore the price).
What about jockey choice. Would Gunter not have had the choice (presumably so)? The fact that he was on TT would also suggest this was the better choice.
Therefore, it is not fair comment to say that it was clear to find if one did their homework.
However, I agree 100% that we forget horses are animals and have a mind of their own. It would not be a gamble if the science was perfect.

@biggysmall I did not say it was obvious, not at all. All I was implying is that it is possible that one of your particular indicators that you check may have highlighted Dan as a possible winner, and at the price it was worth a punt. At double digit odd you only need 2 or 3 out of 10 to arrive to stay healthy in the game.

The one thing that that is being missed in this debate is that, much to some's dismay ,the arithmetic is still, consistently(but not infallibly) the most accurate guide.
Doing it for Dan did not win because it improved (according to the arithmetic) but because Trip Tease ran below its ability, which was explained by Louis and the hoof problem!
So anybody who found DifD as a good thing, pre-race ,either knew that Triptease was not at best ,or was guessing!

Just a really daft question , if TT had a hoof problem , why was it in the race?
