I am an owner and punter albeit a small punter and i care about racing. The example was not a sweeping statement and this was done in my personal capacity as a member of the ABC forum. Why always try and drag other factors into the debate such as my loyalties when you have no clue?
"Self-appointed" - 100% correct and i am paid by the operators.
If you are just a punter worried about your own pocket then why are you worried about the KZN Owners? Pick one or the other as you stand the chance of being recognised as someone who is just confused....you pick. As a neutered observer you certainly seem to have many neutral opinions on me.
The issues and concerns you raise regarding me are a side bar to the actual TOPIC but then that suites you.

i have read these 4 pages on this topic and all i can say is how can anyone with half a brain think that by stop selling a publication that any punter prefers to help him study to bet on your product(horseracing) is a good idea?the whole management team should be fired for bringing racing into disrepute.this must be 1 of the worst ideas phum have had.lol.
how anyone can support this issue is beyond me.

Winzip, unless I have lost my marbles I cant find one person who supports this issue. Country Member said, Hollywood should withdraw sponsoring races. The debate arose about them being far less involved in sponsoring racing than their opposition, so it would not make much difference if they did withdraw. The sale of the Sporting Post is a completely different issue all together. I for one cannot agree with this decision at all as it will inconvenience me a lot in my purchasing of the Sporting Post.

I have to agree that i am really inconvenienced by this stupid ban of Sporting Post
What beats me is the fact that the operators (decision makers) (R Scott?) are so shortsighted...
Do they ever think these things through?
After all, i spend a few hundred with them, some of my friends who spends thousands also won't go to their outlets anymore

Ok I might be answering two topics here
I went past Betting World at Waterglen and asked the pleasant lady for a Sporting Post she said "sorry sir we stopped selling yesterday but you can buy at CNA"
I would not say it was a dive, as it does have large screens, slots and auto, but you can't even buy a packet of crisps or a cold drink, never mind a bunny chow or a few beers.
To me it would be inconceivable to sit there and enjoy a racing experience.
Back to SP
A bit more logic would be to highlight the basic differences between a tote and a bookmaker
Tote has no problem with favs winning, as it basically takes a cut and pays out the balance divided by winning tickets
A bookie on the other hand will try and have a book but more than likely the favs can hurt
So my point would be :
It is important to give the punter as much knowledge as possible to ensure he keeps turning over his winnings, so withholding or making it more difficult is contradictory IMO

quote="pirates" post=681597]Fancy walking into your local hollywood outlet and you are a user of a publication that they dont publish and tell you they wont sell them anymore in their outlets because they have bettingworld advertisements all over them /quote]
This is it in a nutshell.
All of you here are customers to the game. You may even participate in the game, but that's another hat you happen to wear further up the food chain.
If I had to send my customers continually out to the CNA (no disrespect to CNA), then I would be figuring out how to get that product which forces me to deny service to MY customer ONTO my shelves.
That Rob Scott made a business argument is just a joke. He got some of it right, except the customer and service part, and the part where he remembers it's actually bets they sell and information is what makes it happen. Non of this is about stakes and owners, or bookies and totes.
They (the operators) should be invisible, I shouldn't have to think how annoyingly bad they are. In any other business if the management aggravated you a fraction of what these guys do, you would just not go there. Ever.

What about this.....
I assume CNA cant be doing that well with everyone going electronic?
So perhaps a betting terminal at the CNA could work?

Well I wonder how then does Phumelela justify accepting sponsorship and deals from casinos ? Are they not more of a threat to turnover than any bookmaker could ever be? At least bookmakers help in some way by continually exposing a dying local industry but it is a stretch to think that slots players will suddenly start race-betting when they see a yearling sale held at their local casino - more likely that those attending the sale will drop cash at the tables
