jim wrote: I have to concur with easy. I reckon it is a great track and the problem is there are too many no hopers at the centre. The issue is people should send track suited horses there. For example look at splashy who won the fourth today. She had three starts for geoff woodruff who was adamant her sand work was far superior to what she showed on raceday and agreed with the view she would do much better in Kimberley. Her full sister chennai babe won once on grass amd after being sent to greyville by sean tarry won 5 out of six om the poly so there was a pointer . With the loss if the vaal sand Kimberley is a real option for proper sand horses as opposed to last chance saloon battlers. On that note the examples cited above make one wonder who on earth would persevere with such horses and why the owners accept such performances.

Huge difference between Sand and Polytrack surfaces. In the UK horses that have won at Southwell which is Fibresand have never on the Polytrack and vice versa. To go even further I have seen horses that have won on the Polytrack but never won on the Tapeta in the UK. America proves dirt and artificial surfaces is a big difference.

all these horses in Kimberley run with schemes..or what we would call "deals"
owners don't pay keep , only gets half of the stakes...normally the winning stake...etc.etc.etc.etc
list is endless. So what does an owner care, and that's the problem.
Kimberley should have been closed long ago, around the time the vissers transgressed.
Blatent skullduggery and everyone pretends all is good.

Kimberley is hands down the most "forgiving" surface in this country. And if it wasn't for the much better soon takes in other centres we would never even consider raiding .

ziets I don't like having a go at you,as I take you as one of us and I know you wear your heart on your sleeve, because you are as passionate about the game as anyone I've met, but surely you are saying Kimberley surface is the most forgiving in the country and by this I hope you meaning its the most forgiving surface on the BUSH RACING circuit or am I being mistaken once again

;) the colour of money is the same in Kimberley as any other centre so why would owners not race their horses in Kimberley if the owners are not enjoying it and its profitable .
. Every week the comments to close it down are the same people who say they won't waste a cent their that's fine ... As long as its an option to owners/ trainers they will decide if its a viable option to race , raid or not.

You can call flamingo a dump

But if you went to Turfontein in 1987 and now I'm 2017
You would understand the word dump

Then talk about surface. A few have said it's the most forgiving but that's not enough you need more proof

Well the Vaal sand was an abortion
The Greyville issues with turf and drainage are well documented
Scottsville has been called a goat track at least 5 times that I can recall by trainers
Then there is stakes.
If you did a direct swap of stakes between Kimberley and Kzn the traffic of battlers would be one way

Finally I think that if racecourses in da were allowed certain freedoms within the "group" like they are in the uk. So belong to Phumelela but run your own affairs and Kimberley attracted a good CEO it would thrive and the level of horse would be higher.
