I understand the question 100%
Typically most are around the 10% mark.
Some like to post after the race and then manage to hit 80%
I think the question is a bit loaded and ill explain.
Yesterday i did ATR, i had to do the 1st 4 races from Durbanville. It was OK as in 3 of them i would have played anyway BUT sometimes i have to do races i would not be involved in at all.
The day i was in South Africa , Clyde asked me which race i wanted to do. I knew i had Race 5 sorted in my head so thats the one i elected. Had he said i could have done another race then my successful selection would not have happened.
So how many of 9 should or could a handicapper get is difficult. If he/she is forced to have an opinion in 9 races they will end up losing there is no doubt about that.
If its randomly selected by the handicapper (like a best bet) then a 40-50% strike rate is common.

Here we go again!
A tipster with a huge strike rate, that still needs to look for clients

I don't think you will beat 33%. If you do, say 80%, then the likelihood will be that those runners would be hotter than 5/20 resulting in a negative return. Just my sixpence.
