Dear Racing Fans
Undercover Agent joined Surcharge at the top of the leader board after winning the second of the bonus points on offer, the Gr.1 Rising Sun Gold Challenge at Greyville on Saturday and took home 25 points for his legion of fans. Snowdance and Sail South finished well for second and third respectively. In the Gr.2 Tibouchina Stakes, The Secret Is Out, held on gamely to repel the late challenge of Star Express with Final Judgement returning to form in third. Perhaps the most telling performance, however, was that of the reigning VDJ favourite, African Night Sky, whose turn of foot in the Gr.3 Cup Trial was electric and showed his well being in no uncertain terms. Course specialist, Crowd Pleaser, ran into second place ahead of Platinum Prince.
And, on Sunday at Turffontein, the last of the officially recognized July Trials was held with Yakeen holding off the well fancied Tilbury Fort in the Gr.3 Jubilee Handicap. As the winner and third placed horse (Arctica) were not part of the competition list, it was Tilbury Fort who added another five points to his earlier point received when winning earlier in the competition. Now the countdown to the announcement of the final VDJ field begins!

This week it was “DENLEDGE 12” to rise to the top of the leaderboard, 7 clear of “CM 4” and 11 clear of “DENLEDGE 11”. The leading entry’s list of horses:

“DENLEDGE 12” - 228
Horse1: SURCHARGE Points: 34
Horse2: UNDERCOVER AGENT Points: 34
Horse3: PINNACLE PEAK Points: 28
Horse4: BOLD RESPECT Points: 25

The full leader board is attached as a PDF.

This weekend’s TabGold sponsored random draws worth R500 in betting vouchers were won by:
MAD MERRY MUSTANGS
KRITI SEVLALL 3
YOUNG CHICKENS 3
Congratulations to the winners, TabGold will be in touch in due course.

Brett Crawford has bypassed the Gr.2 Post Merchants with his Tsogo Sun winner, Bold Respect, leaving the door open for his stable companions, Sunset Eyes and Black Cat Back who drew well in the 1200m dash. A fascinating entry is that of Legislate’s, his first run since making a comeback from stud duties. Be sure to come racing!

Until next week, good racing and best of luck with your entries!

Track And Ball took centre stage at Scottsville on Saturday when their sponsored Derby and Oaks were run under perfect winter conditions. It’s My Turn returned to form to give Fred Crabbia another stakes winner after African Night Sky had won the Cup Trial a few weeks earlier. Stable companion, the ever consistent Mr Winsome did little wrong in second place and the improving three year old, American Landing, took third place. In the Oaks, Witchcraft, completed the double when given an enterprising ride from the front by the leading jockey, Lyall Hewitson. Paying R21.90 on the Tote, she also earned her supporters the five long shot bonus points. Meryl finished second and Flichity By Farr stayed on well for third place and did enough for connections to supplement her for the Gr.3 Gold Vase on July day.

There was very little change to the top of the leader board and “DENLEDGE 12” remains on 228 points, 7 clear of “CM 4” and 11 clear of “DENLEDGE 11”. The leading entry’s list of horses:

“DENLEDGE 12” - 228
Horse1: SURCHARGE Points: 34
Horse2: UNDERCOVER AGENT Points: 34
Horse3: PINNACLE PEAK Points: 28
Horse4: BOLD RESPECT Points: 25
Horse5: SNOWDANCE Points: 23
Horse6: OH SUSANNA(AUS) Points: 20
Horse7: CORAL FEVER Points: 20
Horse8: TAP O' NOTH Points: 16
Horse9: DO IT AGAIN Points: 14
Horse10: MAGICAL WONDERLAND Points: 14
Horse11: EYES WIDE OPEN Points: 0
Horse12: WHITE RIVER Points: 0
The full leader board is attached as a PDF.

Deez Dyanand pulled three winners of the TabGold sponsored random draws worth R500 in betting vouchers this weekend:
ALVIN 3
JAMIE 11
REV YOUR ENGINE

With little in the form of big point scoring opportunities over the next ten days, all eyes are now on the Vodacom Durban July and the all important stand alone prize. Until next week, good racing and best of luck with your entries!

I have four entries with SIX runners on July day .... to win the daily points prize I need Matador Man and Do It Again (in that order) then Final Judgement and Elusive Heart (in that order) and Sergeant Hardy to win and that should just about clinch it {wide grin}

All the best Magi.... I think 90 points will be enough to lift the prize.

My 2 entries have 7 runners each - somehow doubt it that will be good enough
