you are correct, receiving a nice amount of weight from African night sky. This seems like his peak race and snaith has rated this horse as one of his dark horses in the July before the start of the season. A win secures him a spot.

Was reading on another thread if African Night Sky wins here the merit rating will go up. If he is already guaranteed a run in the VDJ, why would they want to win this, have the merit rating increased and negate any weight advantage he already has? This is part of his prep going into the July, they won't cut him in half to win this, not that he is not good enough to win it without trying, just not in his best interest to do so.

Platinum Prince on the other hand, not guaranteed a run, a win would cement his place in the final field. This horse was unlucky not to finish closer last time out, was hampered at a crucial stage. I expect a huge effort from this horse today.
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.
