Ja things are not that good right now..this is not an industry to invest in unless you get lucky and hit the lottery with a real top horse..and that hardly ever happens.

Generally its a very very expensive hobby for owners and Im afraid to say I still cant work out how trainers make a living.

I am going to bore one and all but I need to get my point accross again. Please respond.

RACING NEEDS TO GROW INCOME - Important Points to note and a few questions.

1. July day - I noted a slots companies hospitatlity tent in tent town - Machines in the tent - how can this be allowed - are there licencing issues? Not amused in the least!
2. Why are we allowing these and other forms of gambling to deplete resources?
3. If this is possible why can my local Keg, Dros, News cafe, cafe, supermarket etc not have a Tote machine in them?
4. Why do people feel embarrassed to run into a tote?
5. Why are we not hunting new players?
6. Why are we not marketing a dream of millions? Pick6 bet offers this dream and could be R10's of millions if its done right.
7. Why cant the Lotto offer a pick6 draw on Saturday and midweek racing for a small cut?
8. Does legislation have a different set of rules for our form of gaming? If so why?
9. If Sun City owned racing can you imagine what it would be? There would be no compromising quality in anyway. You would want to go sit in a tote and so would a lot more people.

Just a thought.

Al I really think the problem is the fundamental financial racing model is wrong from all aspects and its gonna take some brave changes to start correcting it. It just needs someone with the ability and courage to take the reigns and build a good team around him who are well incentivised to make it happen. I do believe some of the team are there already so now they need to break each and every aspect of racing down to manageable sections, put the right teams of people and budgets in place and set some targets and deadlines.

Lets hope.
