FAIRVIEW RACECOURSE is under siege - the grooms have a grievance and the situation is escalating. Horses are being brutally attacked and killed.

Security and Police are calling for assistance from licensed shotgun owners only - they will supply ammunition and instruct on what needs to be done - they need people who are going to follow their instruction and not go off the tangent on an emotional level!

Other racing centre's should immediately go on high alert because this will spread...... it's a well orchestrated attack..... caught all roleplayers off guard.....

Point fingers at those in charge.

There is enough money in the industry to improve security and have back-up plans in place in event that such a thing occurs.

To have over 100 of these hooligans running amock is concerning.
Killing the very thing that helped feed them.

I cannot understand the security issues at the training centers. If the government is willing to allow racing in SA to continue then these centers need to be protected. Owners and Trainers cannot allow their animals to be abused and killed like this and they busy deciding whether or not racing goes ahead tomorrow.
No vision at all from the management of racing to allow this kind of thing to possible to occur. This is not the first time, very flat learning curve indeed.
Probably just hoping it will go away.
