I remember him so well for some obscure reason. Was the early days of Jooste's ownership - horse raced in the maroon and silver of Steinhoff. Charles Laird and Jeff Lloyd teamed up on several occasions with him.

If I'm not mistaken, once he had finished up in SA, he headed over to Mauritius - won pretty much everything there
before being tried in Dubai and then returned to Mauritius for 1 or 2 more runs before retiring.

In my youth the horse which got me hooked was Gerald Boy, a top class sprinter. Trained by Johnny Nicholson & ridden by Gerald Turner. Owned by the Likorish brothers.
My other favourite horses were Turncoat & Politician.
Those were the days...
