problem is(old hobby horse) to many trainers in SA. Way down from 10 years ago but still about 40 to many yards.

NHRA should force yards to perform each season. if not give them an option to merge with another yard.

NHRA should issue 100 licenses per season. to get to tha number they should start at 130 and each season drop 5 for the next 6 seasons.

NHRA should Assist smaller yards with training programs around Business processes, Customer retention, marketing etc.

why less yards make sense. Owners are protected. 7 Year old maidens?? really i love the horse???
Less Christmas time results?
Less supplier defaults?

And this person? Is it stock or ability of the trainer??? Just asking ...

he was never short of liquid but his horses often were denied water - not much to do with business acumen just does not have any regard for the animal

He needs some jail time. Anywhere in the world if he did this he would have been in the locker. That's what he needs

(Trainer) - Rule 10.5.1 - For, as a licensed Trainer, he failed to provide
the requisite level of care, treatment and training to the horses under
his control by not allowing the person left in charge of his stable
reasonable access to his feed room. This resulted in horses not being
fed during this period and being kept in stables where the conditions
were below the accepted standard required, in terms of adequate
bedding, cleanliness and general animal welfare. In determining a
suitable penalty, the Board took into account that this was Trainer
Mahiakolas' second offence for a contravention of this rule within a
one-year period following being found guilty of a contravention of this rule in March 2020 where the penalty was a fine of R10 000 and his
trainer's licence being cancelled. This cancellation was wholly
suspended for a period of three years providing that during the period
of suspension, he was not found guilty of a contravention of a similar
charge. Trainer Mahiakolas' licence was cancelled. Confirmed by the
Inquiry Review Board.
