Both Favorites in race 2,Bend Not Break and race 3,Follow The Star, made ground quickly from the back of the field but got found out the last 100m or so.
Obviously both have been give too much work to do as they found nothing when it mattered.

Do think there is collateral form lines behind CatchaFallingStar in the Cape, which makes First Street slightly better off considering the weights etc. So not a bomb result in essence. Good EX play, and on we box.

Not sure why the commentator said First Street was the worst weighted horse in the race as it was only 5 merit rated points worse than the 5-10 favorite and had a 2.5kg pull in the weights.
As for Van Niekerk, his ride on African Night Sky in the July and the reason why he got kicked out of Hong Kong doesn't give me much confidence in him.Yes he is a decent jockey but when he has to try think a little bit too much he seems to make a lot of stupid decisions.

I don't totally blame the Jock, maybe use of the crop in the latter stages, who knows ... Think the other filly had more heart and fought back, really thought FTS would've glided past going away, probably so did GVN.

Same surname but different trainers.
Winner was Sharon Kotzen and the runner up was trained by Glen Kotzen.
