I heard that neither War Of Athena nor Linebacker will be penalised in the merit ratings, which should be fair, if GTGL was reduced in the ratings.
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

No. At least even if he stays, he's unlikely to improve the few lengths he needs to trouble those at the head of the market. Better from 1600 - 2000m I'd say looking at him.
